Chicken Caesar pizza Smile Feb 11, 2012   (Related Review)

Decided to share a pizza with a friend. We ordered for the Chicken Caesar PIzza, which consists of roasted chicken strips, bacon bits, onions, mozzarella cheese, caesar dressing and tomato sauce.

I liked the combination of ingredients for the pizza and the toppings were well spread out. The chicken were well roasted but slightly salty. The onions give the pizza a refreshing taste and its all in big pieces so it'll be easy for people who doesn't like it to pick it out. I loved the caesar dressing. It was actually my first time having caesar dressing along with a pizza. Goes well with it perfectly. Everything was good but I'd really prefer for there to be more and stronger cheese taste.

Overall, it was delicious and filling for both of us. Costed us only $14.90 for the regular sized pizza.

Chicken chop OK Feb 10, 2012

Decided to try the chicken chop from this stall. Unfortunately, the chicken chop was fried and displayed on the counter for a pretty long time. The nice lady was kind enough to reheat it using the microwave for me though.

The chicken wasn't as oily as I expected it to be. There wasn't much excess oil. In fact, the chicken chop for some reason was relatively watery. The chicken is actually rather tasteless. The skin has no taste and all it taste like is chicken. The chicken was moist but it wasn't moist because it had juice. All the moisture were like plain water.

Overall, it was very bland. It tasted like its chicken that's fried with nothing but oil and some tasteless flour. In the stall's defence, the lady did ask me if I wanted mayonnaise to go with the chicken chop. I certainly don't like the bland taste but I wouldn't mind having it with rice if I'm looking for a meal that's light on taste.

Costed $2.80.

Baked Rice OK Feb 06, 2012

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Bakery

Decided to buy the baked rice from Bang Deli for lunch. The baked rice is filled with cheese, chicken and mushrooms. The baked rice was surprising soft when I scooped up the first bite. It was over-baked in my opinion. I could easily swallow it without biting as though I'm eating porridge. Even the chicken could be cut up easily using a spoon. I'm not a big fan of porridge and naturally didn't like how soft the baked rice was either.

However, the cheese did taste good. The top layer of baked cheese is very thin and and lower layer of cheese is relatively diluted and soft. It did taste like cheese but not too strong on the cheese flavour that it makes it easy to get sick of. The chicken is a little too salty for my liking and the mushrooms did not have any taste at all.

Overall, it was very average and bland. Considering that it costed $3.80, its definitely not value for money. I'd rather buy the other food items Bang Deli has to offer that's cheaper and tastier.

Teriyaki Chicken Don Smile Feb 06, 2012   (Related Review)

Decided to have just a rice bowl instead of a bento for lunch instead so I ordered for the Chicken Teriyaki Don. The teriyaki chicken don is a rice bowl topped off with chicken teriyaki and vegetables with a side of miso soup.

The skin of the teriyaki chicken is unexpectedly crispy and the teriyaki sauce is very sweet. Additionally, the sesame seeds give the chicken a nice sesame smell. The chicken itself is juicy and there's no excess oil.

The rice is Japanese rice and while the bowl does seem small, Ichiban Sushi is very generous and the rice bowl was compacted with rice. Extremely filling. The miso soup is relatively sweet and tastes like miso. No worries about it being too bland.

It costs only $9.90 and is very filling for one person. Definitely the better choice as compared to their set meals if you're looking for a one person serving item in Ichiban Sushi.

Spicy tonkotsu ramen Smile Feb 06, 2012   (Related Review)

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

I've always liked Men-ichi's fried egg so I decided to try their fried egg ramen. The fried egg has crab meat and mushroom in it. The mushrooms give the egg a fresh smell but doesn't overpower the overall taste. The insides of the egg is supposed to be soft and not as cooked but I think the soup cooked the insides of it too.

Noodles wise, Men-ichi has usual, doesn't lose out to other ramen restaurants. Noodles were well-cooked and bouncy. I have had the Tonkotsu soup from Men-ichi before but never the spicy version. The tonkotsu soup is very concentrated and sweet. It was indeed spicy but bearable kind of spiciness. However, the chilli did overpower the taste of tonkotsu soup.

Overall, it was tasty but I got sick of it slightly because all there was to eat with the noodles is the egg. No vegetables or eggs to go with it.

It costs $11.90 and you can upsize the noodles to 20% more (in quantity) for free.
