Chasoba and unadon wazan  Smile Jan 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

The chasoba and unadon wazan consists of cold Japanese tea noodles, mini BBQ eel with rice bowl, miso soup and fruit.

The chasoba was tasty. The soba wasn't too "floury" and it is perfect when mixed with the tea. Unlike some restaurants where the tea tend to be tasteless, the tea actually tastes like tea. The unadon is a rice bowl with a small piece of bbq's eel and egg. I like the sweet sauce they put on the eel. The eel was soft and sweet. Egg was pretty average, like any other egg but it goes well when eaten with the eel and rice.

Miso soup was sweet too and the fruit was that day was orange. Overall, its very filling and I won't mind having it again when I'm craving for chasoba. Its pretty cheap considering there are so many food items. Cost me only $14.90

Beef Chili Cheese Fries Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : American | Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches

Decided to have the beef chilli cheese fries from Carl's Jr for dinner. Personally, I like Carl's Jr's cajun fries. They are well fried and the skin isn't too thick. Its well-filled with soft potato. The beef chilli cheese fries is their normal fries topped off with small pieces of beef and chilli cheese. The beef has a great smell and is normally moist. The chilli cheese sauce doesn't really carry a chilli taste and neither is it spicy. The cheese is not too concentrated, which is perfect for topping off fries. I love the combination of the sauce, beef and fries which is unique to Carl's Jr. It is very filling so its good to have it as a main rather than a side dish. Costs only $4.90.

Chocolate lava cake Smile Jan 29, 2012

I bought the new chocolate lava cake from Domino. It looks like a brownie and yes, the outer layer does taste like brownie. Thankfully, it wasn't too sweet and carried a nice sweet chocolate taste. The unique part of the cake is the inner layer, which is the "lava". The cake has a soft melted chocolate centre. Although its all chocolate, it wasn't too sweet but indeed very filling. I liked the melted chocolate in the centre because it gives it a refreshing taste and when eaten with the brownie it makes it very moist, making it easy to swallow. The cake is topped off with icing which was perfect. Personally, I'd prefer there to be more icing but overall the cake was perfect.

Potato croquette Smile Jan 29, 2012

I'm a regular customer of Men-ichi but was trying the potato croquette for the first time recently. The potato croquette is deep fried and the outer layer is very thin and crispy. It is relatively oily so I didn't really like it. The potato insides are just-nicely fried. Its very soft and moist and carries a taste of some kind of sauce that Menichi uses for their eggs. I tried wrapping the croquette with the vegetable and its actually even better with the vegetable. It reduces the focus on the oil and more on the water in the vegetable. A good side dish for those who like potatoes at a low cost of $2.10. I'd recommend it.

Spaghetti with half chicken Smile Jan 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills | Kids-Friendly

Ordered fro the spaghetti with half chicken in rich tomato sauce. I probably didn't think it through when I ordered the item. The pasta was served with literally the half of a chicken, making it extremely hard for diners to eat unless the diner knows how to eat half a chicken with fork and spoon properly. I ended up giving up on eating the chicken because of how inconvenient it was.

The chicken was tasty though. The insides were sweet and juicy but the skin was way too oily. The pasta was well cooked and mixed with thick and large amount of tomato sauce. The tomato sauce is very sweet and has a heavy tomato taste. I personally loved the tomato sauce because it tasted different from the typical tomato sauce other restaurants serve. It has the real tomato taste instead of just sweet sauce flavoured with tomatoes.

Overall, it was very filling and tasty. Only problem was with the chicken. Would be nice if they have an option for them to have the meat chopped up nicely. If I didn't remember wrongly, NYNY doesn't have chicken chop and that's why I had no choice buy to order for the half chicken.
