流沙 bread Cry May 30, 2013
Categories : Bakery | Brunch

Firsh time trying the golden sands(流沙) bun from Barcook Bakery.

The looks of this bun looks different from the golden sands bun I had before from other bakeries.

It is made of the salty egg yolk with custard and butter sauce, and for this one it looks whiter and creamier.

The golden sands paste is super creamy and it tastes weird. It also doesn’t really go well with the bun and I gave up eating it after a few bite.

It’s quite a disappointment, will definitely not buy it again.

Chocolate Fudge Hot Cake Cry May 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

The new hot fudge pancake is out for quite some time and had always wanted to give it a try.

It costs the same as the normal hotcakes set but I only realized this hot fudge pancake set does not come with the harshbrown.

Initially I thought it was reasonable for an exchange between the hot chocolate fudge and the harshbrown.

However after I tried the taste I regretted getting the hot fudge pancake.

The chocolate was placed in a small plastic container and I spread it onto the pancake with the maple syrup.

The hot fudge sauce is sweet and the chocolate taste is not strong.

It does not really goes well with the pancake and I got sick of having it after a while so I gave up on having the hot fudge and just focused on having the hot cakes with the maple syrup.

The hot fudge was totally a waste and I had to force myself to have it so as not to waste it.

I would totally prefer a harshbrown over the hot fudge.

Fried Osyter Cry May 30, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre

The fried oyster that day was disappointing!):

The fried oyster appeared to be darker/blacker than usual and seems to be more dried.

It is in small pieces and it tastes really dried and hard.

It is not so bad when it is just served but when few minutes passed the plate of fried oyster became hard.Pretty obvious they overcooked it and some parts had the burned taste.

The taste is lost and it is not as fragrant and delicious. I could also hardly taste the egg. The positive side is that the oyster is fresh and juicy. Hopefully it will be better the next time we try it. Service and pricing wise is satisfactory.(:

Pudding Beancurd Cry Mar 17, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre

First time trying happy boy beancurd ;D

They have a variety of flavours and we bought the yam, honeydew, mango, almond and original flavour.

The beancurd is not very smooth and silky.):

It has quite a lot of powdery texture for almost all the flavours.

The flavourings are quite light too.

The yam, mango and honeydew flavour also tastes artificial.

The honeydew one taste quite nice though.

As for the original and almond ones, it definitely pales in comparison with other brands of pudding beancurd.

It’s a good thing they have quite a lot of special flavours to choose from.

We can rarely find yam or honeydew flavour elsewhere so they are worth giving a try.

Other than that, it is quite expensive…costing $2.50 for each flavoured ones.

Thousand taste bread Cry Mar 09, 2013
Categories : Bakery

It was on the promotion of $1 for all bread available, from 5-11pm

Had tried their bread before and it was all right.

But the bread that day had an obvious drop in their normal standard.

The sausage bun I ate was hard and the sausage sandwiched within the bread was also hard and dry.
It is quite obvious that the bun is over baked.):

Initially I thought only mine was like that, but I heard from my sister that the rest were the same too, all are hard and dry.

Even though it's quite cheap for $1, I doubt I will purchase bread from this shop again if there are alternatives.):
