It is my first time trying out dishes at Pot Luck and it was recommended by my cousins.

What we ordered are:
Prawn Paste Chicken($7.90),
Curry Chicken($7.90),
Assam Stingray($5.90),
Claypot Bee Hoon($5.90) and
Steamed Grouper($15).

What’s interesting here is that we just have to top up $2.80 per person to enjoy free flow drinks and $1.50 for free flow of rice from the self-service counter.

It is a good concept after I finished my meal as we would be having quite a lot of rice to go with their delicious and thick curry and assam sauce ;D

First dish I tried was the prawn paste chicken. It is crispy and has a strong fragrant spicing flavor.

The meat is juicy and tender and the flavour penetrates into the meat.

Next up is the Claypot Bee Hoon. It is nice and the flavor is strong and just right. The taste of the soup is rich and flavoursome. The bee hoon is nicely cooked to the right texture and retains a ‘QQ’ texture ;D

What I love most is their Assam Stingray where the assam taste is deep within the fish meat.

The assam taste is sour and sweet, and not too spicy. The sourness is really appetizing and pleasing to the taste.

Although it is sour but the taste is balanced with the slight spiciness and also the freshness of the fish.

The gravy is thick and goes really well with the white rice. We had a few rounds of rice just to have this assam ;D

It isn’t too salty either.

The curry is thick and nice too. The dishes here are not too spicy and the flavours are appropriately balanced.

The curry chicken meat is tender but they use chicken breast meat which I don’t really like.

Other than this I have nothing much to pick about it.

Would definitely be back to have their Assam stingray, Prawn paste chicken and Claypot bee hoon. Probably try out other dishes as well lol

The price is acceptable and considerably affordable too. A relatively economic price for a fulfilling and delicious meal at a restaurant ;D

Chicken Wing ;D Smile May 31, 2013

The chicken wings that night is slightly burnt.

Normally it is alright to have some blacker grilled parts to give it a stronger grilled fragrant taste but for that day it is a little over grilled.

The burnt part is mostly on the drumlet and that makes it a little bitter and hard.

The meat is still as nice though, after we removed the blacker burnt areas.

The meat flavor is strong and nicely marinated, and the meat is tender and juicy ;D

The chicken skin has the grilled fragrance too and is a little crispy and juicy.

Generally other than the burnt parts, the chicken wings are relatively delicious and nice to have ;D

The chili sauce they provided is quite nice too. A little sour and moderately spicy, and tastes similar to chicken rice’s chili sauce.

Overall it is still a pretty pleasant experience.

Satay ;D Smile May 31, 2013

In the past I don’t really like having satay and would prefer having chicken wings, stingray and other dishes but not satay.

However, whenever I’m at 85 bedok, I will always be tempted to have the satay here.

I like the tenderness of the meat used to make the satay here and the grilled taste is just right, not too strong or burnt, and not too bland.

The flavor is also just right and taste delicious and fragrant.

It is also easy to have it as the meat is soft and fresh that it does not stick to the satay stick and I could easily remove it.

The meat is chewy and juicy ;D

The satay sauce is also nice as it is not too sweet and the peanut taste is not overly strong. It does not cover the taste of the satay and goes well together.

Ordered both the chicken and pork satay, and even the meat of the pork satay is tender and easy to chew.

Fruit Cake Smile May 31, 2013
Categories : Bakery

We bought the fruit cake from four leaves to celebrate my niece’s birthday ;D

The standard 15cm costs $26.

The overall taste of the fruit cake is quite ok.

It has quite a strong thick creamy taste from the outer layer which is a little oily, with the almonds sprinkled around the cake surface.

The chiffon layer within is soft and fluffy.

Even though the cream is quite thick, it is still quite nice as the cream is not too sweet and it is fresh and sweet.

The amount of fruits is not a lot in the cake itself. Most of the fruits are those at the top surface, and the fruits are fresh too ;D

The size for $26 is not very big but it is just right for us to have it after our dinner. A small slice for each of us ;D

Night Promotion ;D Smile May 31, 2013

It’s around 10pm and they are having the promotion of $12 for 10 breads.

For some breads I don’t recognize, I do not know what flavor they are as they have removed the tags of the bread.

Two that I ate was the pepper dog bread and another one which I’m unsure of the flavor.

After trying it tastes like coconut with some raisins sprinkled at the top.

The bread texture is fluffy and soft.

It is quite plain without any fillings within and the coconut flavor is not too strong.

It is not too bland and the sweetness level is moderate, so I quite like it ;D

The pepper dog is always what I will get if it is available.

The black pepper hot dog is in a whole and it is not too spicy and the flavor is just right.

The bread texture is chewy and soft.

The price for the pepper dog is $1.50 which is quite worth it when I bought it during the night promotion.

One thing I dislike about getting breads from breadtalk is that their trays are always oily, where I will always get my hands dirty after buying the breads :x
