Red Peri Scorcher  OK May 30, 2013
Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

This new product to battle against McSpicy was just launched and I can’t wait to try it ;D

The new beverage is the PassionFruit McFritz.

The Red Pei Scorcher burger is quite a disappointment. The spiciness came mainly from the chili sauce and the chili sauce tasted a little like the chicken rice chilli.

It’s spicier compared to the black pepper flamer and I felt that it is too spicy.

Nonetheless, the chicken meat is tender and juicy. Love the chicken parts they used to make the burger, and the chicken outer is crispy.

The overall taste of the Red Peri Scorcher burger is average and I doubt I will have it again as it is too spicy and the spiciness does not complement really well with the burger and other ingredients.

The fries is still the Citrus Thai Shaker Fries, which tastes similar to tom yum and is sweet, sour and salty. It’s a little salty though but personally this shaker fries goes in second place after the seaweed shaker fries.

Sadly, they do not sell the shaker fries individually this time.

Carbonara Pasta  OK May 30, 2013
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

Saw this restaurant with a promotion board that says $5.90 nett. The restaurant looks spacious and simple.

The decorations are quite plain and the space looks a little empty.

Nonetheless, we still decided to give it a try since there quite a number of customers.

The choices on the menu are quite a variety of flavours of mainly baked rice, spaghetti and pizza.

There is also an option to upgrade the dish with a drink bar or salad bar, where the salad bar is an upgrade of the drink bar with a bowl of salad.

The upgrade to salad bar is at $3.80.

It is a little misleading though, because its stated free flow but it’s actually applicable only to the drinks. Initially I thought it’s really a salad bar with free flow salad serving.

I ordered their signature carbonara pasta which costs $5.90 nett. The great thing is that all their items are net prices.

The salad came first and it was cold. Even the plate was cold and I supposed it is left in the fridge for quite some time.

The salad looks simple and plain. It is still quite fresh though and the dressing given was just the right amount.

Even though it taste quite alright for the salad, the price of $3.80 for the salad and free flow drinks are actually not really worth it after all.

The drinks choices are only a few such as the standard soft drinks dispenser with coke, ice lemon tea etc. and also lemonade and orange juice.

They also have coffee and tea. However the juices are quite diluted and tasteless.

The main dish arrived shortly after and it is served warm. The carbonara portion is quite small.

There isn’t much sauce and the pasta tastes a little salty and tasteless.

Overall the food tastes average. After all, the price is considered low and affordable for an Italian meal.

Box of 12 donuts ! ;D Smile May 30, 2013
Categories : Café

Bought a box of 12 donuts for $13.90 ;D

It was close to 9pm when I bought it and some of the flavours are already out of stock.

The donuts flavours I bought are:
Choco Cavier Strawberry
Forest Glam(black forest)
Green Tea
Plain chocolate
Tiramisu
Salted Caramel
Mango
Avocado

I had the salted caramel, green tea, mango and choco cavier strawberry.
~ Salted Caramel ~

~ Salted Caramel ~

It was my first time trying the salted caramel donut. First bite and I could taste the salted caramel. It is not too salty and it blends well with the caramel that is not too sweet or sticky.

It tastes nicer and nicer after a few bites and I like it a lot ;D

It’s pretty interesting to have a salty dessert lol
~ choco Cavier Strawberry ~

~ choco Cavier Strawberry ~

The choco cavier strawberry has chocolate bits sprinkled all over the donut surface and the chocolate bits are crispy and it gives a different texture layer when eating this.

It will be the crispiness of the choco bits and the softness of the donut coupled together ;D

And surprisingly the strawberry isn’t too sweet and it goes really well with the chocolate bits. I thought strawberry would mean it will be sweet but I like it a lot after trying it ;D
~ Mango-Durian ~

~ Mango-Durian ~

For the mango one, I heard the person saying its durian or something and it does smell and taste a little like a mixture of durian and mango.

Although I’m not very sure on what the flavor is, it taste quite nice and similarly, it is not too sweet even though the flavour spread is quite a lot.
~ Green tea ~

~ Green tea ~

The green tea donut is always what I loved. It is not too sweet, neither is the green tea bitter, but I could still taste the original green tea thickness and fragrant taste.

I would definitely get the green tea ones for myself and my family each time I buy the donuts.

The donuts texture is soft and fluffy, not too soft and a little chewy.

The price of $13.90 for 12 is really worth it ;D

Otah & Pork Floss Thick Toast Smile May 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

I bought two thick toast in total, one otah and one pork floss, take away. I was informed that the wait will be around 8 minutes.

These cost me a total of $3.60.

The toasts are done in around 5-6 minutes ;D

The pork floss thick toast is fully covered with the floss and it tastes similar to their pork floss bun, where they have a layer of buttery sauce on top of the toast before the pork floss are added.

The thick toast is cut into 9 small pieces and the corners are crispy and nice.

The floss is not the crispy type and it may drop all over the place when eating.

The otah thick toast is also cut into 9 small pieces and the sides of the toast are removed for the otah toast.

The otah toast is slightly softer and the otah paste spread over is quite thick.

It is quite spicy and a little sour.

Overall both toasts taste quite nice. Would recommend the otah thick toast more, as the pork floss one would taste better as a pork floss bun.

Dumpling Soup Noodles ;D Smile May 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

Initially there aren’t enough seats for 6 persons but the auntie there helped us by asking a customer politely to move to the side table so that we can have a table for 6 together.

Nice service attitude ;D

I decided to order the Dumpling Noodles Soup which is $5.90, with the $1.50 meal upgrade for a bowl of almond paste and a carrot cake.

When placing my order at the counter, the service staff recommended certain dishes to us such as the glutinous rice ball and the other desserts.

It’s alright that she’s introducing the products to us but what irritated me a little was that she kept on asking and indirectly insisting us to get her recommendations.

She kept saying that it’s nice and etc. In the end I agreed to get a pair of glutinous rice balls for an extra $1.

She did not gave up recommending others even after this :x

Normally the dessert and carrot cake will come first but the mains came first this time.

My dumpling noodles soup took a while to arrive and when it does, we spotted a strand of hair in the bowl.

Immediately I requested for a change and glad that the service staff politely apologized and changed it.

The taste of the dumpling noodles soup is average. The soup base is light and a little bland.

The guo tiao I ordered is bland too, the flavours did not blend in well. The noodles and soup portion was quite disappointing but the dumplings are nice though ;D

The ingredients in the dumplings are pretty generous and the flavor is just right. The paste in it tastes nice and retains a chewy texture.

The carrot cake was nicely fried and is fragrant, soft and nice ;D

The almond paste is as usual, thick and with the right amount of almond taste.

Overall it’s a satisfactory visit, with an affordable price where you can get a meal for below $10.
