Meehoon in the morning OK Mar 03, 2011

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Food Court

The stall will be ready at about 7.40am for breakfast and they sell fried rice, meehoon etc. You can top it up with fried egg sunny side up, luncheon meat etc. Personally, I find the meehoon a bit dry. Taste wise is okay as it is seasoned with the soya sauce. After adding the top up of an egg and luncheon meat, it sets me back by about $2.50 if I remembered correctly.

Spending per head: Approximately $2.50(Breakfast)

Fresh fruits and nice staff Smile Mar 03, 2011

The anutie is very nice and when we bought fruits from the stall, we requested for some of the fruits to be cut into very small bites as they are for a friend. The staff is very accomodating and even checked with us whether the size was okay. Good service. The fruits are fresh and on top of the good service, it is definitely worth it. Besides, some of the fruits are sold out very fast.

Ever since they started using a machine to make the toast, the toast is no longer as crispy as before. However, at times I will still get their breakfast set that comes with 2 soft boiled eggs, toast and a cup of coffee. The price is very reasonable at $2 only. With the use of Kopitiam card, there is a further 10% discount.

ALthough the toast is not as good as before, the soft boiled eggs are still delicious and cooked just right. Their coffee (with sugar and cream) is slighly sweet so you may just want to order Kopi O instead. Service is okay.

Prawn fritters OK Mar 02, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Stall / Kiosk

Happy Veg sells a variety of deep fried fritters like crab stick, soft shell crab etc. For me, my favourite will be the prawn version. However, I find that the ones here are slighly more oily than the ones I got from Nex.

On the whole, the fritter was pretty crispy. The downside is that it is slighly oily, since it is deep fried to a golden brown. The inside is quite fluffy and soft though. The prawn has been fried till crispy too and you can have it whole. Not a very healthy snack but once for a while, it is okay.

Finally, I tried the signature Jia Xiang Mee. When the mee arrived, I though the serving was quite little as the bowl was so huge. However, after the meal, I was really full. As for the taste, it was quite ordinary, nothing special about it. The mee is very springy though. If not for the chilli sauce, I would say that it is not worth it to have the mee as it was over priced. The wantons are okay. Maybe that explains why the restaurant is not crowded even though it was during weekend lunch hour.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)
