Starbucks at Westgate Smile Dec 11, 2013
Categories : American | Coffee

Situated right at the entrance of westgate is the newly opened Starbucks. This branch is definitely bigger than the one at the neighbouring mall, JEM. It's another good place for studying especially when there are so many schools nearby. Great place to hang out with friends over a cup of coffee.

Grabbed a quick bite at this branch. Ordered their oreo cheesecake which taste not too bad. But if you asked me to compare their cakes and coffee, the latter is still better.

Overall, the ambience of this new outlet at Westgate is good.

PU TIEN Smile Dec 11, 2013
Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Seafood

Putien is a good choice for good quality Chinese food and it is suitable for family gathering. The Putien chilli sauce is tasty and goes well with the Heng Hwa beehoon. It is available for purchase off the counter. Heng Hwa Beehoon (M) portion was good for three people. Honest cooking, good prices, decent portions and highly consistent standards even across outlets – and I have a soft spot for regional chinese cooking (much of what we have locally is more generally cantonese than anything else).

The staff was polite and cheerful. Service was pretty good except they forgot about the fish broth and served it after we finished our food.

Carpenter and Cook Smile Dec 11, 2013

One of my favourite cafe in town! It is one of the rare cafes in Singapore to have such vintage artisan bakery and furniture store.

What i like best is the nostalgic feel in the cafe. The vintage atmosphere is unique compared to other cafes. Apart from this, the cafe offers a wide range of freshly made cakes and tarts. They also produce their own range of tuckbox treats like homemade jams, biscuits, granola and marshmallows which can't be found outside.

Tried their chocolate sea-salt and passionfruit meringue tart which I greatly favour. Their summer peach tea is equally fantastic and smooth! Perfect place for girlfriends to get around and chit chat.

Till then, I'll be back!

TOM YUM PASTA Smile Dec 11, 2013
Categories : Fusion | Pasta

My peeps and I are starting our journey to find hidden cafes along the nostalgic areas and we came across 49 Seats. What I love about the place is the hanging lamps and their reasonable pricing with good quality food. I know the place is famous for Tom Yam Pasta. It's a hidden gem with good food!

One of the rare places which offers a wide range of pasta especially those "exotic" flavours like Tom yum pasta. It's a good place to chill out and enjoy good food.

The best thing is that there is no service charge!

GELATO at GE!ATO OK Dec 11, 2013
Categories : Italian | Ice Cream and Gelato

This outlet is newly opened Gelato kiosk at Westgate. I was there on the 2nd day of opening and the shop was offering one for one promotion. Ge!ato serves a wide range of Gelato flavours. Personally, i find that the taste of the gelato is not too bad but there are quite a few Gelato shops that offers better quality. I tried the Hazelnut and strawberry yogurt. Since it was one for one, i paid only $3.00 for a double classic. There're other premium flavours such as durian, dark chocolate, sorbet and more.

Being a fan of hazelnut gelato, i find that their version is just normal as the taste it not that strong. Most gelato places offer hazelnut with hazelnut bits and chunks but Ge!ato doesn't and this made their version slightly plain.
