Green Noodle Smile Sep 23, 2011

I stayed in Whampoa area about 12 years ago. During those period, I often ate at this Makan Place. This place underwent a major renovation not to long ago. It used to be old and a little dirty but now it is bright, spacious and clean.

I used to like the Prawn noodle here but I thought I would try something else today. I walked around and saw this stall selling Wanton/Prawn dumpling noodle. And their specialty was this 'green noodle' made with spinach added. They have two types of Wanton/Dumpling, fried or boiled. I asked for the fried dumpling green noodle. The seller was very friendly, he asked where I was sitting and said that he would bring the noodle to me.

The noodle was very Q, but a bit too little. The skin of the dumpling was crispy, the filling's full, quite an amount of pork but didn't have the distinguish smell of it. Good proportion of vegetable. Pretty delicious.smile

Normal noodle cost $3 per bowl but green noodle cost $3.30 per bowl.

Honey Bee Smile Sep 22, 2011

Every time I passed by The Icing Room, I would stop by and take a look. There would always be people standing around decorating the cakes. I find that this is a very unique shop. Not only do they sell cakes, puffs, cookies etc., they also provide the facility for customers to decorate their own cake. I have always wanted to try the DIY.

Then came an opportunity when I bought these discount coupons from Groupon for a Jr. Chef Workshop for Kids at The Icing Room. I paid half the original price of $36 per workshop.
The workshop was in the morning, at Somerset 313 branch and there was only one other kid beside my two. I liked the set-up of this particular branch, so pink and sweet. There was a sitting area where you could sit and enjoy a dish or two from their menu. Today, they used this space for the workshop.

The theme for that day was to decorate the cake into a bumble bee with cream and chocolate. The instructor was very patient with the children. I'm not trying to praise my own but from the final products I could say that my kids were very patient too. It really took a lot of time and patience to make the cream 'balls' so small and closely packed together. They really enjoyed themselves.smile

That very night, we 'sacrified' one of the bees to our tummy. We cut one of the cakes and ate it. The taste of the sponge cake was not fantastic, but the fruit sandwiched between the layers of cake blended well with it and improved the overall taste.

Yogurt Milk Shake Smile Sep 15, 2011
Categories : Frozen Yogurt | Desserts and Cakes

Today, I was at IMM again for lunch. As usual, I shopped around after lunch and soon I felt a little hungry and thirsty. I went to the food section on the first floor. Initially, I was looking for a drink to quench my thirst and some snack to fill my stomach. But when I saw this stall selling yogurt ice-cream, I took an interest to it. A small cup for $2.80. There was two yogurt machine and four different flavours, blackcurrent and peach; apple and natural. One could mix two flavours from the same machine. I was interested to have a mixture of blackcurrent and apple but it was not possible because they were from different machine. Then I saw that they have yogurt shake, a blend of yogurt and milk. I thought it was a good idea, a drink that's rich enough to fill my stomach, killing one bird with two stones. But it cost $3.30 per cup, quite expensive. Then I noticed that they were having a promotion on the yogurt shake, $2.30 per cup. Wow! My lucky day. I ordered one with blackcurrent flavour.
Hmm.....first sip...queer...second sip....not sweet....third sip....cool....fourth sip....not sour ....fifth sip....sixth sip...Hmm. The more I drank, the nicer it tasted. Worth it. Should try it now while there's a promotion.smile

No Coffee No Wakie OK Aug 20, 2011
Categories : Hawker Centre

After my satisfactory Sliced Fish Bee Hoon, recommended by my husband, I must have my daily coffee. 'No Coffee No Wakie' is my slogan. Well, this was a hawker centre, as usual, there were many coffee stalls. Walked around the centre, saw this particular stall manned by a couple. Guess they could be husband and wife. The stall looked clean and the couple looked pleasant, so I ordered my cup of coffee. Only $0.80 for a glass. Cheap.
Coffee for me.

Coffee for me.

Taste was a little bitter. Not very thick but good enough for me.

Hot Pan Smile Aug 19, 2011

It's Thursday evening, again we were at IMM. This time, we decided to have our dinner at the Kopitiam. A place to dine if the family couldn't agree on what cuisine to have. For here was a place with various type of cuisine. You're bound to get one that you like. My children wanted to have the mini-steamboat from this Hot Pan Delights.
This stall has a wide variety of dishes but we like the minii-steamboat. You could have your own choice of meat and soup base. Since it was meant for our kids, we bought the chicken soup base with beef. The good thing about this mini-steamboat was that they gave a generous amount of vegetables.

The fume from the fire could be quite choking at times.

All this for $5.90, on top of that I got 10% discount. Great value for money.
Taste wise... depends on your own cooking skill.
