Horlicks' for me Smile Sep 20, 2011

Care for some local flavoured ice-creams? This's the place. They offer a large variety of ice-creams with those familiar local flavours like Pulut Hitam, Teh Talek, Horlicks, Milo, Durian, Nutella and many many more. My personal favourite is Horlicks. I normally topped it up with the Horlicks powder provided by the shop. They have Milo powder too. I have tried Teh Talek and Nutella too. Teh Talek tasted like milk tea, as the name imply. The taste of the nutella was not quite like nutella.

My kids love the ice-creams here and we visit almost every week.

Starbucks@Clementi Mall Smile Aug 30, 2011

I had drunk at Starbucks many times. It's my daughter’s birthday and her friend treated her to Starbucks as a birthday gift. My daughters loves Starbucks and everytime she sees a Starbucks, she would crave for it. However, she only likes to drink one particular type, which is Chocolate Chip Cream (with no whip cream), so whenever she goes to Starbucks, she would buy the same thing. This time I asked my daughter to write the review for this particular drink that she drank.

Her review is as follows:

Starbucks is my favourtie of all times. The taste of Starbucks was just yummy and mellow. The taste in your mouth was wonderful. Starbucks is definitely worth the try =], even though it can be expensive.

Itacho Sushi OK Aug 13, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

I went to Spotlight with my friend and thought of having our lunch at Plaza Singapore. We were searching for a place to eat and this particular restaurant caught our eyes. The restaurant looked inviting, with a slight queue outside. The promotion posters were captivating. I love fish and they were having some promotion of fish dishes at $8.50 per set. In addition, they have some dishes that were having upto 50% discount. We decided to give it a try.
The table and chairs that we set upon were slightly higher than normal, something like that of a counter chair. There were stacks of order forms on the table for you to place the order, with colours corresponding to that on the menu. This forms did not include the promotion items.
My friend and I each ordered a fish dish. I ordered the 'Grilled Aka Uo Fish', upgrade to include salad and miso soup for an additional $3.

Before we had our main course, we ordered some side dishes. The salmon sushi with soy sauce, original price $0.80 each, now 50% off. Not bad. The Gyoza at $2.40 per plate 3 pieces. The salmon belly at $3.80 per plate. I didn't quite like the salmon belly as it was full of bones.

Then we added the Deep Fried Shrimp, $3.80 and Hot Roasted Egg, $2.40. I tried the hot roasted egg in Japan, but this one was not as good, maybe not hot enough. Still I quite like it. The Shrimps were disappointing though.

Overall, it's a value for money restaurant. They even waived the charges for the towel and hot tea if you spent about $10 per person.

Unusual Ya Kun Smile Oct 04, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

I have never been to a Ya Kun that has couches like this one, something similar to Starbuck or Coffee Bean. This is on the ground floor of the SAFRA club at Telok Blangah. It is opened to the public. The service was very good. We ordered two butter toast set. I asked them to placed the each egg on separate plates and they were very willing to oblige.

Ya Kun's eggs were always perfectly done, a true half-boiled egg, smooth and soft. We were a little surprised when the butter toasts were served. It was really two slices of bread, cut into four pieces (one of the pieces was eaten by my daughter). Unlike some other coffee and toast cafes which indicated in the set as two slices of bread but in actual it was just one slice cut into two. The butter spread of Ya Kun's bread was generous too.

This is a nice Ya Kun cafe to sit, relax and enjoy a cup of local coffee. smile Should have snapped a picture of the cafe.

Pasta Fresca Smile Aug 30, 2011

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta

This restaurant is situated in one of the shophouses along Bukit Timah Road, just after the Sixth Avenue. They used to have free parking. My family and I went there several times. The restaurant is divided into two dinning area, one smaller air-con section and the other bigger alfresco section. I always wondered why the alfresco section is bigger than the air-con one, when Singapore is so hot. Maybe because most of their customers are foreigners.
Needless to say, we always sat at the air-con section. Usually, we ordered the Vongole in white wine as the appetizer. This taste wonderful, we never get tired of it. smile
The children would order the Fusilli with bolognese sauce. Their favourite, always the same. My favourite is Marinara sauce on Conchiglie. I always told them to take out the mussles. The portion was a little too much for me. Everytime when I come to the end of the meal, I would feel so full. No more space for dessert, yet I would not miss the cappuccino. Italian coffee's the best. Strong and fragrance. lol
This place will continue to be our dinner hangout whenever we feel like having Italian meal. Buon Appetito.
