Smooth and Tasty Congee Smile Nov 16, 2011

Although there weren't many customer at this stall, it didn't mean that it was not good. I believe the main reason that it was not popular was that it's too hot to eat congee in a hawker centre, especially for lunch. While that didn't bother me as I wasn't working, I didn't have to worry that I would smell of perspiration if I go back to office. So I ordered a bowl of seafood congee, with egg of course.

The heat was actually bearable. The hawker centre was quite well vantilated. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The congee was really very smooth and tasty. The seafood was very fresh. It's worth a try. If you are worried of the heat, try it on a cool day.smile

Students's hangout Smile Nov 16, 2011

I believe this particular shop has been here for a long time. But there was a changed in its ownership this year. Personally, I felt that the standard of the food has dropped since the change over, but nonetheless, it was still packed with students during lunch time. The students, including my daughter, always ordered the lemon chicken rice.

The dish was served without the sauce. It's up to you to add your preferred amount. My daughter preferred to have it plain.
The special thing about this shop was that apart from the standard menu, there was a daily menu, one that change everyday. There was a chart on the wall indicating the dishes for the day. Today, there was this cereal chicken, a new dish that I have never seen being sold here before.

When the lady boss served me the dish, the vegetable was something I wouldn't eat. I just made a comment saying that I didn't like it and immediately she said she would change a different type of vegetable for me. I was very impressed by their good service. That's why I kept going back even though the price of the food had increased and the portion decreased as compared to the previous owner.

This interesting thing about this restaurant was the seating areas. It was arranged in steps or layers, from the basement to the first floor. The food sale counter was at the lowest, the basement near the entrance to Isetan Supermarket. Though it was an outdoor Cafe, I enjoyed sitting here for a cup of coffee. Today, taking a rest from my shopping, I bought a cup of cappuccino and sat on the mid area of the cafe. Looking at the shoppers while sipping my coffee. Really relaxing for me.smile Almost forgot, the cappuccino from McCafe was rich and fragrant.

Malay Chicken Rice Smile Nov 14, 2011

Jun's Chicken Rice

Jun's Chicken Rice

Majority of the stalls here were Malay stalls. Though there was a Chinese Chicken Rice Stall, but I wanted something different. I saw this Malay Chicken Rice stall and thought I would give it a try. Compared to the Chinese Chicken Rice, the chicken in this Nasi Ayam was drier. It was deep fried and slightly overcooked making the breast meat a little tough. The rice was cooked like the usual chicken rice, very fragrant. They served soup which was unusual for Malay food. $3 per plate.

At the corner of the intersection of Liang Seah St and North Bridge Road, stood this Halal Coffee Shop with a Chinese Name. When you sat down on one of the table, you would find a laminated menu. Though there were a few stalls witthin the coffee shop, but it seemed to me that they belong to the same boss. The service was good. The staffs were very quick to attend to us.

From the drink stall, we ordered two glasses of ice Milo ($1.40 each) and a cup of coffee ($1).
Only one word to describe - SWEET. It was expected that the Milo would be sweet, else it would be tasteless. But the coffee was sweet too. Not strong enough for me.
