Chinese cuisine at its best Smile Feb 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Noodles

In Singapore, there is an abundance of places that serve up chinese fare, but there are only some who make the cut. In Yishun, I think that Mayim deserves the title of the best Chinese restaurant, as it really serves up such good food, and I have never once been disappointed. This time when my family patronised this place, we ordered stewed pork, pan-fried gyozas, tofu with mushrooms and beancurd skins (wow extremely soft and bite-worthy!), claypot eggplant with thin sliced pork, tofu, mushrooms and minced beef, and some mock duck vegetarian dish. All of the dishes were absolutely tasty, full of flavour, great sauces and gravies, the meat was so juicy and tender, mushrooms were not hard, I just have to say, that all the dishes were fantastic! smile Definitely recommend for those fond of Chinese food.

Caramelatte at Gloria Jeans Smile Feb 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Café

I hardly patronise Gloria Jeans, but after the experience I had, I'm dumping my usual coffee place and heading to this one! I walked past Gloria Jeans, and decided to get a Caramelatte, just to try. I also saw that they had a wide variety of food available, and surprising to say, it does not charge extravagant prices, and I saw ginormous mounds of cookies, oh yummm, I'm going to order that the next time. Okay, the Caramelatte is basically your usual latte, but with caramel infused in it, and it has white froth on top smile As for the taste, the latte taste is exact, the slight bitterness is there, which I fancy, but I couldn't really taste a strong hint of caramel though, however, the coffee tasted great, and I liked it, which is what matters smile This drink is under their specialities menu anyway. I recommend this place, and I suppose y'all could try out their food or chillers.

Wasabi fillet-o-fish OK Feb 29, 2012

Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

It's no more your regular tame fillet-o-fish, McDonald's upped a notch by adding wasabi instead of their regular tartar sauce on top of the fish patty. As I like fish and of course, wasabi, I decided to try it out. Honestly, I think McDonald's is thinking that they are serving kids, as the size and portion of this burger is getting smaller each time I buy it, sadly. Other than that, the fish is great as usual, and when you get to the center of the burger, that's when you start feeling the wasabi. smile It's not potent, I can assure you, as it has been mixed with a mild tartar sauce. I recommend this burger, but if you're hungry, do remember to upsize your meal! smile

Ice cream parlour and cafe OK Feb 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café | Ice Cream and Gelato

I've tried their ice creams when I went to their homeland, Aussie, but over here, when I was out shopping with my friends that day, we all needed a drink, so we sat down on their comfy chairs and decided to order some good stuff. We had hot chocolate and the iced coffee. The drinks took some time to arrive, so please only come here if you're not in a hurry. The hot chocolate came as a surprise, as I thought it would look all chocolatey from top to bottom, but this one was served with white froth on top. It was really chocolatey and hits the comfort spot, just makes one go "ahhhh" smile As for the iced coffee that my friends ordered, they found that it was very different from versions served elsewhere. It actually looks like ice lemon tea, you even had to add sugar syrup in it! Interesting, but when I'm there again, I think I'll stick to good ol' piping hot chocolate. I recommend this place more for ice cream though.

Yes, watermelon soy milk, AGAIN Smile Feb 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Desserts and Cakes

As I have already stated in my other review, I am a total lover of watermelon soy milk, because it just tastes so refreshing and healthy at the same time. So, here I am to recommend another soy bean place that serves up amazing watermelon soy milk, and yes, with pearls too! Just that, over here, the cost of added pearls cost 80cents, a bit more expensive than the cost elsewhere. I like my soy milk not so sweet, so I go for 50% sugar level, and mind you, that's clearly sweet enough. I like how they really blend the watermelon, soy milk and ice so thoroughly, you can't taste chunks of ice, but rather, get a smooth consistency. The pearls here are better too, they are chewier and bouncier. lol Super recommend. In my picture, you can only see 1/4 left, as i was just to preoccupied with slurping down the good stuff before I reminded myself about the picture haha.

Recommended Dish(es):  watermelon soy milk with pearls

Spending per head: Approximately $2.80
