One of The Best Dim Sum  Smile Sep 24, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Porridge/Congee | Dim Sum | Noodles

They serve one of the best Hongkong style dimsum in Singapore. It is one of the usual place me and my sisters have our weekend brunch ;).

Few of the recommended dimsum we tried before. Their 'xiao long bao', I feel that this is better than the crystal jade one and on par with Dim Tai Fung.

Next, the custard bun. I heard they said Taste Paradise serves a better custard bun, I myself have not tried before but this Imperial Treasure custard bun did a good job as well. The custard mixed with butter and york melted in your month immediately...

The BBQ pork pastry has this crispy flakes and tasty char siew filling, with this honey fragrance.

Some other dim sum like carrot cake, char siew bun, guo tie worth a try too.

Indian Vegetarian  Smile Sep 12, 2011
Categories : Indian | Vegetarian

My Indian friend recommended me this nice vegetarian restaurant. I was still quite doubted when I looked at the menu because all the dishes seemed not to be vegetarian. And I saw the table next door were having chicken rice.

Until my friend told me the fake meat is made up of flour and mushroom. A bit like chinese vegetarian food but this is the first time i tried the Indian style.

Well, we ordered a few of the dishes.

Chicken Rice. The rice is the pandan rice, not the normal one. With the pandan fragrance, it makes it tastes special. And the fake meat of course.

I would recommend this satay. The sauce is nice and you don't have to worry about the fats meat since it is all using vegetarian ingredients.

Nasi lemak. Nice try.

Pineapple rice. This would be quite normal. Perhaps not that special compared to others.

Well, the price although is bit pricey but I would say their vegetarian dishes do stand out. smile

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Lunch)

Nice Thai Food Smile Sep 07, 2011
Categories : Thai

This small Thai restaurant, at a quite deserted building yet busy district Bugis, often attracts alot of Thai food lovers. You couldn't agree more once you tried their food. What's more the price is quite reasonable. We ordered a Tom yam Seafood pot , enough for 2 person eating is ard $6.90, if to compared with Bali Thai or Thai Express, personally I feel this is tastier and value worth.

Ordered the Tom Yam Seafood. The soup base is nice, not really spicy yet you can taste the thick Tom Yam flavour in.

The next recommended dish is this Pandan Chicken, ard $9.90. They use the pandan leave to wrap the marinated chicken. A bit similiar to Chinese Paper Wrap Chicken style but this one they grill it instead. The chicken is grilled evenly and with the pandan leave fragrance. This worth a try.

Next is their kangkong. Stir fried. Not really spicy yet you taste freshness of the vege. Good!

The only dish that we are not really satisfied is their dessert: red ruby. perhaps the coconut milk is too thick and the red ruby is not that chewy.

Anyway, the food is good. If you want to try some authentic Thai food, this is the place you should go!

Penang Food Craving? Come here !! Smile Sep 06, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malaysian | Hawker Centre

If the authentic Penang folks say this is nice, well, this must have some standard!

This was recommended by one of my Penang friend. It was at a coffee shop around Clementi. Though the dining experience may not be that comfortable, it is quite hot actually.

For the food, we opt for their Penang Laksa and fried kway teow. The Penang laksa soup base is nice and original. They put in alot of ingredients and the fragrance is nice.

For their fried kway teow, is abit different from Singapore style, they use the thinner rice noodles instead of the thick ones, and is fried to bit burnt so to give a good taste. Less oily in my sense compared to the normal fried kway teow.

This is a good place if you are craving for Penang Food ! =)

Gong Cha Smile Sep 06, 2011
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

The 'bubble tea' trend seems to be something 'on' in Singapore in recent years. Almost everywhere you can see youngster holding either the 'KOI' or "Gong Cha' bubble tea, seems like a must have drink everyday.

Personally, I prefer the bubble tea from Gong Cha, compared to KOI. Had a bad experience in KOI when the drink is so sweet we can finish half of the cup. So, we switched to Gong Cha after that.

Their bubble tea is the signature drink. From there, you can choose the different topping such as pearl, jelly, black jelly, coconut jelly, red bean etc. Have not tried the red bean before. I would recommend their jelly. If you like to try something new other than pearl, their jelly will be a good choice.

You can choose the sweetness of your drink too. Normally I will get the 50 or 80 % one.
