Gong Cha Smile Sep 06, 2011

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

The 'bubble tea' trend seems to be something 'on' in Singapore in recent years. Almost everywhere you can see youngster holding either the 'KOI' or "Gong Cha' bubble tea, seems like a must have drink everyday.

Personally, I prefer the bubble tea from Gong Cha, compared to KOI. Had a bad experience in KOI when the drink is so sweet we can finish half of the cup. So, we switched to Gong Cha after that.

Their bubble tea is the signature drink. From there, you can choose the different topping such as pearl, jelly, black jelly, coconut jelly, red bean etc. Have not tried the red bean before. I would recommend their jelly. If you like to try something new other than pearl, their jelly will be a good choice.

You can choose the sweetness of your drink too. Normally I will get the 50 or 80 % one.

The Mango Sensation  Smile Sep 05, 2011

My sis was craving for Mango Xi Mi Lu. When we were at ION Orchard the other day, heard friends saying about the dessert shop , Mei Heong Yuen... The main branch was at Bugis. Went there once and it was always full of people.

Tried their Mango Sago. The mango and sago portion is quite ok, taste well also. Not bad!!

Tried their yam cake too, is a bit different taste then the one I normally take at Imperial Treasure but still up to standard.

Overall, this dessert shop is definitely a good one in Singapore.

Kim's Family Smile Sep 04, 2011
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Korean BBQ

I normally went to the main branch at Lorong Kilat. But now probably I would prefer to go for this Clementi one partly because it is less crowded. It is located at Sunset Way, along the stretch of restaurant , just beside Fortune Cuisine ( steamboat buffet ).

The main attraction of Kim's Family food, besides their authentic Korean dishes and waiters (Most of the staffs are actually from Korea), is their refillable appetizers. What's more, it is really a wide range of appetizer, we got at least 10 different side dishes. Nice right?? But normally you will feel too full to refill after 2 rounds as their main dish is quite a big portion too.

Alright, we ordered a set meal that comes with a BBQ pork and soya bean soup stew. Heard they are famous for their soya bean stew, so how could we miss it? Well, the BBQ pork was grilled quite well, tendered and the BBQ sauce is nice. Not bad a try! For their soya bean stew, to me, the taste is average. Not that special and tasty to me... their BBQ meat perhaps is the main attraction dish.

Ordered another spicy kimchi ramen which turns out to be the 'expensive ' version of Xin La Mian. The instant noodles sold in market. Abit disappointed for this. I'm almost wanted to ask them are they using the instant mee packet and just add in some seafood.. that sell at $15 per bowl... Saddd...

Anyway, their BBQ and stew are still tasty... with their REFILLABLE appetizer. Although the spicy kimchi ramen was a big hiccup, the overall dining experience was still a nice one!

Yummy Tutti Smile Aug 30, 2011

Tutti frutti is a frozen yogurt selling worldwide. But guess in Singapore, there's only one stall here beside Clementi Mall.

A bit different concept than Frolick, their main idea is more to self-service. Follow these simple steps to get you a cup of your own favour yogurt!

(1) Choose your yogurt of the day- you can choose from 10 over flavour. Can mix whatever you like. If you are not sure about the taste, no worries, get the friendly waiter to help you, you can taste the yogurt before hand. 100g is ard $3.70. How much is 100g? Roughly 2 rounds of the yogurt. I would recommend the flavour: Tutti frutti and guava.

(2) Self-service machine, take your own yogurt.

(3) Self-service toppings counter - 10 over toppings for you to choose from!

(4) Pay smile

Alright, self-service get you to experience the 'making' your own flavour yogurt but one disadvantage is you never know how much you need to pay for the yogurt until the last step. So, must have self-control, if 'syok sendiri' , too excited over it and get too much yogurt.. you can put it back tongue

Huge Disappointment  Cry Aug 29, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop

We went there because heard from a FM radio DJ saying they serve one of the best Paper Wrap Chicken in Singapore...

Well, perhaps that visit was the first and last time we would go. Why?

From their menu, everything seemed fine, with some drooling name of their paper wrap chicken, sotong and prawn. We were in a group of 8 people, and chose a set dinner for 8 people that come with 8 dishes. Sound good. yup, until we saw what was served.

(1) The fried rice- cold and tasteless - I can fry better than them. Imagine we were group of 8 and the rice serving was like only for 2 ppl? And they don't have white rice. End up we need order another fried mee which turned up looked like maggie mee plus bit of oil =="

(2) The prawn, vege and toufu- prawn was really normal, toufu was like normal fried toufu.

(3) The so-called dessert- was just a plate of orange (simply cut).

(4) Well, their so called famous paper wrap chicken - is really normal.

And their portion were really really little, the 8-ppl course end up only enough to feed at most 4 people. Imagine that day we have 6 big guys...

What makes this dining experience even worse was it was after raining, the dining place was like 'atap house'.. the traditional wooden house and open air. There were lot of flying bugs flying around and eventually in middle of eating, the bugs flew in our dishes. At the end, we ended up have plates of bugs instead of the proper food. What's more, it was really expensive, the course like this, seriously only enough for 4 ppl eating costed us near to $120. Eventually, they refunded us $20 as we complaint the food was fulled with bugs.

Well, to me, I will never visit this restaurant again. I don't know what makes it so special when their service, food and price were totally sub standard.
