An Aussie restaurant with one of the best view in Orchard Road. Hi I can see Sentosa from here. Nice view but can be a bit too bright for me sitting by the window.

Some slices of bread to start the meal.

Crab omelette, pickled enoki salad, miso mustard broth
It is a very simple dish, with the soup been poured in front of you. Fluffy omelette.

Chicken liver foie gras parfait, truffled butter, toasted brioche
Cannot finish the pate. Simple and nice to have truffled buttered toast.

Pan fried potato gnocchi, corn, asparagus, zucchini, parmesan
It is a very well made dish.

Maori Lakes tenderloin, blue cheese pressed potato, spinach, red wine jus

Floating Island, Frangelico Anglaise

Salt Grill Dessert Tasting Plate
The greyish licorice ice cream with sago is just not my type, cannot take to it.

Overall it is a very nice restaurant, which serves not the usual Aussie food.

We are served some warm breads and crackers to start the meal with. There is olive oil at the table to dip with.

For starter, there is a choice of 2. I ordered TORETTA DI SALMONE AVOCADO CON POMODORI, VERZE E CONDIMENTO ALL’AFARANCIO (Tower of salmon tartar and avocado mousse served with tomato concass on savoy cabbage and orange dressing).
The salmon looks cooked, not raw as I thought. The buttery taste of the avocado goes well with the oily fish, flow smoothly down and do not cover the taste of the fish.

For the pasta dish, we have STRACCI DI PASTA FATTI IN CASA CON GAMBERI E POMODORINI (Homemade stracci served with prawns and cherry tomatoes).
It is well done with the pasta cooked just right and topped with fat and juicy prawns.

For the dessert, I choose 4 different mini items from the counter (From the top: Mini Sacher (Rank no.2), Bigne Chantilly (Rank no.3), Mini Chocolate Pistachio Tart , Mini Chocolate Blackberry Tart)
Both the chocolate ones taste similar except one has a blackberry at the bottom. The cream in the bigne is light and fresh. The sacher is full of different texture of tastes.

Very relaxing place, 2.5 hours just past without notice. I would like very much to come again.

Recommended Dish(es):  Bigne Chantilly

A cosy place to rest from the heavy rain outside. Having the Sparkling Imperial High Tea set ($28++)

For the first course :
Sparkling Wine to start with the steamed dumpling.
Funny to have wine with Chinese food, but then again wine goes well with seafood.
Steamed Abalone Dumpling : Colorful, sticky but thin skin.
Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Chives : A very well made piece.

For the second course :
Long Jing : A kind of unfermented green tea, light in taste.
Deep-fried Crab Roll with Shredded Abalone : normal.
Minced Meat Dumpling in Sour and Superior Stock : The soup looks spicy but not spicy at all.
Deep-fried Prawn Dumpling with Mayonnaise : normal.
Sichuan Knife-shredded Noodle with Shredded Abalone : The noodle is soft and smooth.

For the dessert course :
Feng Huang Dan Cong ( Oolong Tea) : Not the usual oolong tea you find at the bubble tea shops. It tastes light with a bit of honey aftertaste.
Deep-fried “Huai Shan” Dumpling : Very light and crispy. The filling really tastes like yam.
Chilled Osmanthus Dumpling : A jelly like dessert.
Homemade Bean Curd with Wolfberry : Oh it is very silky in taste.

Too many choices, don’t know what to get. The samples available on the counter is soft and tasty. Orders some for takeaway. Nicely packed in a paper bag, sealed with a paper handle which is easily torn off.
Croissant Almonds ($3.50) : The standard of the croissant is a class of its own. Cannot compare.
Kouign Aman ($3.50) : Crispy and sweet on the outside, but soft and chewy inside.
Praline Pear Tart ($6.00) : soft and nice is the pear.

Recommended Dish(es):  Kouign Aman

Fruity drink Smile Apr 20, 2013

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes | Ice Cream and Gelato

I was online a few days ago, when I saw a promotion from Hic'Cup on the Qoo10 website. $0.99 for a drink! Very cheap I was thinking. Checking more details at the locations of the outlets, I was thinking that I could get myself a drink after dance lesson at 100AM.

Today I finally get to use the voucher. The outlet is a small cafe at the end of the first floor of 100AM, which behind the escalator. The cafe is decorated in grey colour.

Cute decorations of the café on the table.

Looking at the menu, there is a number of very interesting drinks. Everything looks so special. I have a hard time deciding what to get. In the end, I decide on Pursue Your Passion as it is one of their signature drinks. But too bad for me, it is out of stock. The staff noticed that it is my first visit, recommends me Citrus Cirus (usual $3.90 for single size, $5.90 for double size) which is a combination of Yuzu, cultured milk and Kanten balls.

Just like bubble tea, it is served in a plastic cup, with the staff asking if I would like a bag for it and showing me where is the straws. The drink tastes very thick and milky, with lots of sweet, thin shredded orange peel and chewy, QQ balls. My throat feels very soothing after drinking. A recommended drink for purify and soothe especially these few days has been extremely hot.
