The korean restaurant was a few months old and headed by a pretty young looking Korean female chef. The dishes served here were more of the home cooked type, no barbecued food.

The dishes were accompanied with 6 different side dishes commonly known as banchan .

GalBi-Tang  (S$26)
Beef short rib soup with radish, leek and stripped sliced eggs.
The favourite dish of the meal. The meat looked quite red but it was quite tender. The soup was quite flavourful too.

SuYuk with rice Set  (S$24)
Tender boiled pork with rice and pork soup.
Quite a healthy way of eating the sliced pork with bean paste wrapped with a piece of lettuce, although would prefer the meat to be more tender and moist. The soup was kind of lacking of the meat flavour.

Saeng Seon Gui  (S$24)
Korean grilled fish.
Simple looking dish but the meat was sweet in taste.

Haemui Sundubu  (S$26)
Seafood tofu soup.
There's lot of seafood in this soup such as prawns, squid, scallops, and mussels. Quite flavourful soup too.

Bibimbab  (S$20)
Korean rice bowl.
Interestingly it was served meatless, but the meat was not missed here.

InJeolMi BingSu  (S$12)
Iced milk flakes with mixed grain powder, InJeolMi (Korean rice cake), red bean paste and sliced almonds served with ice cream and condensed milk.
The shaved ice was very fine and melted easily. It was not too sweet. However the rice cakes got hardened easily.

Mixed Melon Bingsu  (S$12)
Iced milk flakes with assorted melon and watermelon, coconut flakes served with ice cream and condensed milk.
Similar to the other bingsu, it was not too sweet but packed with the natural sweetness from the fruit.

Hong-Cho  (S$4)
Pomegranate vinegar drink (iced).
Slightly sweet vinegared drink which peaked up the appetite

Brunch Smile Jan 02, 2018

Visited the place for brunch on a Saturday morning. The place was pretty empty although there was quite a number of tables with reservation signs on.

QFC (S$16++)
quinoa fried chicken, served with spicy banana ketchup and jicama slaw
I had never thought of using quinoa for breading. It gave a kind of popping effect in the mouth when bit. The breaded crust was thin and crispy, while inside was packed with juicy meaty meat. The slaw was tangy and brought out the appetite.

Bourbon Mashbill Grits ($13++)
Corn, rye, barley, smoked cheddar, soft egg, chicken scratchings
Add bacon (S$4++)
It looked plain like baby food with its gooey texture. Mixed all up, it tasted surprisingly savoury good with strong cheese taste.

aguas frescas of the day (S$7++)
Green apple + watermelon + soda
The staff had asked about my preference before making this drink. It was like a bespoken drink. It tasted quite refreshing and fruity.

Sunday roast dinner Smile Dec 26, 2017

Booked the place for Christmas eve dinner and the restaurant was having Sunday Roast Dinner. There was 3 different dining slots for dinner.

I selected the earliest which was 5.30pm and the 2 of us were given the kitchen counter seats where we had a great view of happening in the busy place. Sitting next to us was the head chef's mother who shared with us who was visiting Singapore. Watching the kitchen, I realized the roasted turkey was faster than one usually expected.

We started the meal with

Pork Terrine (S$15++)
Served with homemade pickles and clementine jam
The light crispy toaste, spread with the chunky terrine, and topped with some pickles such as onion, and beetroot, quite peaked up the appetite.

Beetroot & Gin Cured Salmon (S$15++)
Served with cucumber potato salad and herb mayonnaise
The salmon tasted just like sashimi that one would not felt that it was cured version.

The meal was followed by huge serving of main courses.

Roast Beef  (S$25++)
Served with sides of red cabbage, buttered green beans, duck fat fried potato, and bread sauce
While the meat looked rather raw, it sliced easily and tasted delicious. The sides were good too, except for the bread sauce which one felt it was too starchy.

Roast Turkey ( S$25++)
Served with sides of red cabbage, buttered green beans, mashed potatoes , and gravy
One would thought that the meat would be rather tough and dry, but the version here was kind of juicy and went quite well with the light but flavourful gravy. Topped up with the well braised slightly sweet cabbage, it tasted even better.

Accompanied with

Christmas stuffing (S$3++)
Pork mince, pine nuts and thyme.
I was not a fan of christmas stuffing as I always felt it was rather strong in herbs taste. The version was more like meat loaf with a bit of nutty texture.

Ended the meal with a couple of Christmas cookies topped with cream cheese topping, complimentary from the chef.

The restaurant was located at one of the black and white colonial bungalow, some walking distance from the MRT station. For lunch, only Noshery was opened with a limited lunch menu, which consisted mostly of sandwiches, rice bowls and desserts. Although it was a hot day, the place was quite cooling and relaxing with all the greenery around. Iced water was served after order was placed.

Smoked Brisket Sandwich (S$15++)
Polka Bread, House Smoked Brisket, Chipotle Aioli, Onion Jam, and Gherkin
Almost didn't order the sandwich as I thought that the bread would be rather hard. Turned it was alright with crusty powdery crust and chewy soft inside. The sandwich filling was tangy with hints of spicy.

Lavender Honey Roll (S$7++)
Lime Fromage Blanc, Roasted Pineapple, Yogurt Sorbet
It looked like a slice of swiss roll, served with a scoop of ice cream with some crumbles. The roasted pineapple tasted strongly of alcohol, which peaked up the plain icy roll. The sorbet tasted more ice cream with its milky texture.

Homemade Ginger Beer (S$4++)
The drink was served with a wedge of lime, and tasted refreshing.

Do take note the restaurant will be closing at the end of this year.

Curry rice Smile Dec 20, 2017

The restaurant was located at one end of the hotel, taking over the space from a former korean restaurant. As part of its opening promotion, there was 1-for-1 for its curry rice. Its spread over 5 levels. There was 2 types of rice - white/ multi grain, with free upsize of rice. Help yourself to the free flow of roasted barley tea on the table.

All Toppings Wild Curry (S$16.80++)
Cheese curry, topped with deep fried pork, crab cream croquette, garlic pork belly, shrimp, half boiled egg, minced pork and egg salad

Garlic Pork Belly & Cheese Curry
(S$15.80++)
Cheese Curry, topped with garlic pork belly, half boiled egg, minced pork and egg salad

We tried level 1 (original) and level 3 (spicy). There was hint of spicy but no sweat. Most customers ordered level 4 and 5 for spicy levels. If you felt it was not spicy enough for you, there was chilli powder on the table to help yourself to. The plate looked rather shallow but the serving turned out to be rather filling.

Don't forget to leave a bit of curry rice behind to make curry porridge by adding the accompanying cup of Paitan soup.

My favourite topping was the crab cream croquette, whose filling flew out like lava when cut opened.

Spending per head: Approximately $19.8(Lunch)
