Disappointing buffet Cry Aug 19, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet | Japanese BBQ/Teppanyaki

Another Japanese Charcoal Grill Restaurant by Creative Eateries. Compares to Tajimaya, this one is more on buffet style from $27.90++ onwards.

The place looks not bad. Quite hip with the young people with its dark coloured surrounding. On certain nights, there are also live singing.

The standard of the griller is not as good as its other restaurant in Vivo City. The fire is not so strong here.

Assorted pork and beef. Comparing to its other restaurant, the standard of the meat here is much lower and quite tough to eat. My jaw is painful from all the chewing.

Assorted mushrooms: I think the mushrooms are the only items which I like in this meal. With just soyu and butter, it just tastes very nice and soft.

Chicken

Assorted vegetable platter.

Assorted seafood platter.

As this is a buffet, there is a time limit of how we could order food. When time is almost up, the staff will come around asking for last order. I feel that it is not that value for money as menu is limited and standard of items available are not very good. For about $73 for 2 people, I feel it is a bit expensive. The staff here are not as helpful as the ones at Tajimaya. We have to look for them to change the griller, whereas the ones at the other restaurant will check from time to time. So big different in service, even both are under same group.

Average buffet Cry Jul 30, 2013

We have come for lunch to celebrate our assistant manager's farewell. As the restaurant is quite popular and our group is quite big, reservations is being made weeks ahead. The place is quite small and we are separated into many different tables. The seats are quite small, a problem for big sized person. The ordering system is quite messy as certain dishes are served without been ordered. There are dishes which we ordered but never serve. The food tastes average. The service sucks as they cannot keep track of our orders even we have repeatedly ask the staffs about it.

Spending per head: Approximately $50(Lunch)

Steam Custard Paus Cry Jul 20, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Kids-Friendly

On the way the home, I decide to drop by the bakery to get something for breakfast. There is not much items available when I reach as it is almost closing. Looking at the rows of paus, I decide to get Custard Paus. As there is after 8.30pm promotion going on, it costs $1.60 after the discount. As the paus are chilled version, I have to heat them up before eating them. The custard filling is too thick, and there is no lava like texture. The skin of the pau is too thick and taste not soft enough.

Prawn Chee Cheong Fan Cry Jul 13, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Food Court | Dim Sum

Looking at the menu, I decide on the prawn chee cheong fan as I thinking having something light. The chopped spring onions and deep fried shallots add a touch of colour onto the otherwise plain dish. The soya sauce that pour over the chee cheong fan is not enough as I feel the chee cheong fan is still a dry on some part. The prawns in the chee cheong fan tastes quite tough and overcooked, could be due to sitting too long in the steamer.

Cheap Deal Cry Jul 03, 2013   (Related Review)

This week The Manhattan Fish Market is running a promotion for selected main courses. We decide to have them for dinner. To make a complete meal, you can top-up $3.90++ for a coke and a Soup of the Day.

The Soup of the Day(Regular) tastes much watered down than usual.

I am surprised that the coke in served in a paper cup. shocked Looks like a smaller serving than usual.

Fish 'N Chips ($3.99++)

Fish 'N Chips + Cheese Sauce ($5.99++)
Wish there is more cheese sauce. sad

Grilled Glory Dory ($3.99++)
We order 2 of this and both look equally flat. Well cooked vegetables.

The main courses taste average, but the servings are smaller than usual and served in paper boxes.shocked Somehow feel like eating in a fast food restaurant. Maybe because of the way the food is served. And there is no free flow of iced water. No free sweets after paying the bill.
Total amount (including 2 top-up) : $30.25.
