Peperoni Pizzeria OK Mar 22, 2012
Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta

We visited another brunch of peperoni pizzeria at Greenwood Avenue along Bukit Timah Road last Monday night. We ordered a pasta and a pizza each- I had an Amatricianna pasta ($18) which is basically tomato sauce with a generous amount of bacon and onions. The pasta was a little bit undercooked, but the generous serving size impressed us.

We ordered the large pizza ($21) because if you order large (12 inch)or family size (21 inch) pizzas, you can choose to have 2 difference flavors. We tried the following 2 flavours:
Funghi – lots of mushrooms and cheese.
Pancetta – this is actually pepperoni pizza. It was a little bit on the salty side, but this can be rectified by sprinkling tobasco sauce on it.

Service was great, the waiters were always cracking jokes and very attentive (possibly due to the lack of customers). However, they were a little too attentive because when we went to take a close look at the displays in the restaurant, our unfinished pasta was cleared.

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Dinner)

Angry Mango burger at Nando's Cry Mar 22, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Portuguese | Steaks and Grills

We visited Nando’s at Bugis Junction on a weekday night for dinner. This outlet is rather crowded so always book in advance for larger groups. They will normally allow you to hold the table for some time if you have at least half the group there (which was what happened to us).

I ordered an Angry Mango Burger. The burger is basically a bun with a slice of grilled chicken in it, served with diced mango. It also comes with 1 side which I choose peri peri chips of mild peri peri flavor (ie. The lowest level of spiciness). I found the burger disappointing because the buns were soggy from the sauce and the mango. And the grilled chicken breast was in need to A LOT more seasoning.

KOREAN BBQ Smile Mar 22, 2012
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Buffet | Korean BBQ

A great place for group gatherings, though remember to go very early to queue up to secure your seats. Early as in before 6pm early.

Food wise, the selection was decent, there were meats, kimchi, watermelon, vegetables for wrapping the cooked meats in, and mushrooms. The meats were well seasoned, I particularly liked one type that tasted a bit like char siew (though I couldn’t tell what sort of meat that was. Just look for a reddish sauce one). Service was very prompt- they changed the aluminum foil on our hot plate many many times without us prompting them. Drinks are self service bottles of cold water.

My complaint about 2D1N is its very hot and stuffy in the restaurant and everybody’s sweating like crazy throughout the meal. Being a Korean bbq, expect to stink up your hair and clothes.

Putien Meesua Smile Mar 22, 2012

Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

I ordered a meesua (small) which cost $7.90 if im not wrong. Fairly cheap considering their other dishes, but portions were for a single person so don’t expect a big bowl. I absolutely love their meesua. Its ‘dry’ meesua which means no soup but the noodles are still swimming in some sort of sauce (which is very nice to drink by the way). The toppings include prawns (fresh and taste great with their homemade chili), shellfish (2 types, one of which I felt wasn’t very fresh), tau pok, egg, vegetables and a sprinkle of seaweed.

Ps: their homemade chili is absolutely not to be missed. It’s the highlight of going to putien.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)

Ghim Moh market prata Smile Mar 22, 2012
Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre | Halal

In search of cheap and good prata? Try ghim moh market. Nearest MRT: buena vista, Bus: 100. In the mornings, theres normally a relatively long queue at this stall, but the queue moves fairly quickly. Im a big fan of their prata (i have it at least once a month) because its not too oily like many of the pratas nowadays, sometimes if you're lucky you get ones with crispy edges, otherwise the normal ones are also great because they do not become soggy if you da bao them back home. And they are always willing to give you more curry upon request. Oh talking about their curry - its really thick and fragrant, i never waste a drop of it.
It is not opened at night though, so no prata supper fix here.
