It's one of my husband's quest to try newly-opened food joints that have been recommended to us. So, we were off to this coffee shop in Queen Street looking for this French food stall one evening and was rewarded by good food.

The place was nothing to shout about being in a coffee shop but the stall was well-patronised, so much so that the Stuffed Chicken Roulade was sold out when we placed our order.The Mushroom Linguine was subtly flavoured by the variety of mushrooms and the pasta was al dente to the bite.The Duck Confit Salad was refreshing with tender duck meat and light vinegarette drizzled on the vegetables.Aahh...the Short Ribs was something...the meat literally melted in my mouth and the red wine gravy that accompanied it was so tasty and we demolished every drop of it with the comforting buttery mash potato. Bliss

Tiong Bahru has just sprouted another chic cafe with good food and coffee. The slew of new cafes like Forty Hands, Orange Thimble, Open Door Policy and now Drips bodes well for this ultra-hip area which is achingly nostalgic with its old-style residences and to-die-for local fare.

The interior of Drips is bright and welcoming, with a skylight running down the back of the cafe. The furniture is so retro, hip and well-made that I felt like buying it off them! I just settled comfortably into one of the sofa seats and tucked into my lovely croissant.The food at the cafe is made by former Shangri-La pastry chef, Alfred Chan, and what a delight to have gorgeous food in a nice setting

The Fig Croissant was ABSOLUTELY LOVELY!!! The fig was fresh and glazed delicately over the croissant. It's a pity the croissant was not as crispy as I expected but you can't have a crispy croissant and fresh fruit topping together wihtout sacrificing one or the other.

The Iced Chocolate was very well made with the right amount of chocolate syrup, milk and ice. I didn't feel that it was overly sweet or chocolatey.

A great, relaxing way to spend the morning with good food and good friends

Indian Rojak is quite a pleasure with a good mix of healthy and not-so healthy (deep fried) ingredients.

I chanced upon this stall at Pasir Panjang Food Centre and thought it was worth trying since it was their specialty.

It did not disappoint as the ingredients were fresh and the sauce had a good balance of sweet and spicy. The fried items did was not soggy or oil laden and the dish was very enjoyable overall

If I want consistent quality of wanton mee, I look no further than the Pontian franchise of noodles. I am glad they have a branch in Holland Village Food Centre so it can be a back-up when I exhaust my food choices.

The black sauce in the noodles is a nice change from the normal ketchup base and I appreciate the fact that the noodles is not as oily and the char siew is always lean. The fried wanton adds a welcome crunch to the whole dish

I LOVE any food that has the smoky Wok Hei taste and this restaurant has achieved it well!

I ordered the Basil Vegetables Rice and the Vegetables came with the wonderful Wok Hei taste It was quite spicy but the vegetable were fresh and crisp, being just stirred through in a very hot wok. The accompanying egg was not oily and the yolk was just set to my liking The Basil Beef Rice was delicious with the same sweetish, spicy sauce and had a generous portion of beef served.The desserts here are also very well done. The Red Ruby and Chendol was cold and refreshing, served with coconut milk.

But it is the Thai Ice Tea that was great in washing down the meal. It had a rich and strong tea flavour with milk added to it.
