Lightest Sponge Tea Cake EVER Smile Sep 22, 2011

Tea-Time cake

Tea-Time cake

I really, Really, REALLY don't know how the Japanese does it. They have perfected the art of commercial Confectionery and Patiserrie like no other.

Kudos to Tampopo for coming up with this delightful Tea-Time cake.

The sponge is so airy that you are almost biting next to nothing and the cream they piped into the centre of the sponge is so Fresh and Light, it does not make you feel too guilty about having a second, or a third cake at one go!

They have succeeded in their intention to get customers to eat more than a piece., because my husband went and bought 10 pieces!

Tang Yuan Dou Hua Smile Sep 20, 2011

Tang Yuan Tofu

Tang Yuan Tofu

I always like to patronise Soyako for their Dou Hua as they do a good job with the Beancurd. It's smooth and the syrup is not too sweet. The addition of Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Balls) makes it more interesting in terms of texture. I am sure the Tang Yuan was not handmade but commercially sourced but that did not spoil my dessert.

Mini Baos Smile Sep 20, 2011

Lotus Paste Bao

Lotus Paste Bao

Yummy baos with generous filling that can be eaten in 2 bites. Perfect for the mid-morning or afternoon tea-breaks.

It's even tastier when eaten fresh from the steamer and the filling oozes out in a thick lava smile

When I patronise this stall, I buy at least 10 baos in different flavours to freeze at home and then steam and eat at my own leisure smile

Healthy Organic Vegetarian Food Smile Sep 20, 2011

Rainbow Salad Noodle

Rainbow Salad Noodle

Imagine my delight in finding an Organic Vegetarian stall in a hawker centre! Eating without fear of pesticides, added chemicals and growth hormones has become readily available now to the masses!

Many people have extolled the benefits and virtues of organic food and lately, it is easier and more affordable to eat organically in Singapore, than say, 2 years ago.

Kokee Delights has a simple menu of rice and noodles and a variety of ready, take-home products.

What I had that night was a beautiful combination of shredded purple and white cabbage on top of sauced noodles. The noodles was tangy with a hint of sweetness and it went very well with the topping of brown rice crackers, nuts (almonds and cashews), berries (raisins, cranberries and wolfberries) and vegetables.

The portion was generous and my children couldn't help taking bites off my plate despite their tasty steak and noodles (non-organic regular hawker fare) sitting in front of them smile

Cafe Dinner at Tiong Bahru OK Sep 13, 2011

I've always wanted to go to Cafe Pralet to see the wonderful custom-made cake creations and I was not disappointed when I stepped into the cafe.

The place had various displays of it's cake designs but for now, I will just review the food here.

My daughter loves Tofu Burgers and she will make it a point to try it if it's on the menu. This burger did not disappoint her with the moist patty and caramelised onions.

My son played it safe and had the Shepherd's Pie and the filling was moist and the mashed potato had great little brown bits to pick on.

My other girl had the Smoked Salmon Panini and the bread was well toasted and fragrant and the Salmon ws not stinged upon.

I had the Ayam Tempra but unfortunately, the chicken had the frozen taste and I cannot say that it has the authentic Nonya taste. The chicken was not braised sufficiently and some parts came off as rather dry sad The portion is quite generous if it is of any comfort.

The Raspberry cake that I had was delightful and light with a fragrant raspberry flavour.

I will go back to this cafe for cakes and coffee and maybe a light meal but not for the Ayam Tempra.
