healthy and tasty soy pudding Smile Jul 23, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Desserts and Cakes

I have eaten Amasoy pudding many times and they never failed to satisfy my cravings. I like that their puddings are really soft and disintegrate into sweet, tasty soymilk upon being warmed in my mouth. i like their original flavour the most as they have the fragrant soya bean taste which i adore.

Recently, they have alter their pudding into Japanese pudding which i still love. I tried their mango flavoured pudding with mango toppings and it taste a bit like those mango pudding sold outside, just that this has a softer texture. The mango cubes inside are juicy and sweet. I will try out other flavours soon! tongue One box is priced at $2 each.

simple dim sum OK Jul 23, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

I had always wanted to try Swee Choon's dim sum after reading good review online about it but i am rarely around their vicinity during their opening hours of 6pm to 6am. Last week, i finally laid my hands on their dim sum as i was nearby for a talk. I took away an egg tart, 2 of their signature mee sua kueh, a taro puff and a char siew sou.

I really love egg tarts so much that i will definitely have them whenever i lay my eyes upon them outside. This egg tart satisfied me with their crispy flaky crust and milky soft custard filling. The char siew sou was another delectable pastry that has very light skin encompassing sweet, smoky char siew within.

The taro puff was crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. However, i do not like the taste of the chicken filling within as it was too salty.

I kept their signature mee sua kueh the last as i want to save the best for the last. Indeed it didn't disappoint me as the mee sua was very well-flavoured. The mee sua was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside being deep-fried.

Even though their dim sum is not the best i have tried, they do satisfy my dim sum cravings.

Good quality breads Smile Jul 23, 2013

I love sweet potatoes and apple so when i see this sweet potato apple bun on display at Donq, i bought it without hesitation. The bread was soft and had a hint of butter fragrance to it. There was cubes of yellow sweet potatoes and apples in it. The sweet glaze and almond toppings complement the delicious bun very well. A very good choice for people who like sweet stuff like me. smile

Best tarts in Singapore? OK Jul 23, 2013
Categories : Bakery | Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

I have heard many people raving about how good Drips Bakery fruit tart is so i decided to try it on my own. I took away this Cinnamon Pear Tart as it looks very pretty and unique. Taste wise, i cannot detect any cinnamon fragrance and the pear used was grainy and dry in texture. I would prefer the layer of frangipane below the fruits to be thicker as it was so thin that it doesn't contribute much texture nor flavour to the tart. Nevertheless, the tart base is good as it was not too sweet and remain crispy even with the fruits on top.

I think i will still give the other flavour of their fruit tarts a try before laying any judgment too soon.

Signature Seafood Paella Smile Jul 23, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : European | Paella

Le Patio signature Seafood Paella Rice ($11.90) is a hot favourite in Pasarbella and I don't see why not. Served in a environmental friendly paper box, the portion is substantial. The paella comes with tiger prawns, fish, chicken, mussles and baby squid, justifying its price. The rice was soft yet not mushy and every grain was fully infused with umami taste from the broth they prepared. To summarise the paella in one word - FLAVOURFUL. tongue
