soft and sweet treats OK May 26, 2013

Wonder buns has a wide variety of flavour of buns to choose from. I had a Banana wonder bun and it doesn't give me much satisfaction. The bananas placed on top of the bun give the bread natural sweetness and moistness. However, the banana slices on top of the bun was too thin to give the bun any banana taste and moistness. The bun was also quite small and it was rather expensive being priced at $1.50. Quite disappointed with it. I think it might be better to choose their cream cheese flavoured types as i can see a nice dollop of cream cheese placed on top of the buns.

Jangjorim Bibimbap Smile May 26, 2013

Categories : Korean | Chinese Soup | Noodles

I ordered a 'Jangjorim Bibimbap' from their new menu. It is actually a hot stone white rice with braised pork in soy sauce, fried egg, mushroom and zucchini served with Jangjorim sauce on the side. I asked whether i can change the rice to other types but it is not possible. I had fun mixing the the sauce with all the ingredients inside the hot stone. It was really tasty as the individual pork, mushroom and zucchini ingredients were very well marinated. I enjoyed it very much. smile

Good Tonpeiyaki Smile May 26, 2013

My friend bought me to try Watami's 'Tonpeiyaki' as she knows i love japanese okonomiyaki. This is basically a Japanese omelette with pork, cheese and cabbage rolled in it, topped with mustard and okonomiyaki sauce. Unlike japanese Okonomiyaki, it doesn't have flour thus making it less heavy and filling, but both taste very similar. It was a delicious side dish to a piping hot bowl of pearl rice. I will definitely order it again when i feel like having rice yet still wanting to satisfy my okonomiyaki cravings. smile

I also their yuzu tea as it was sweet and the fragrance of the yuzu is really soothing. It is definitely a refreshing drink to have with a satisfying meal.

Unique dessert Smile May 26, 2013   (Related Review)

I have been wanting to try their 'Seasalt Caramel Slice' ever since i heard many raves about it but i was too full during my previous visit to have it. This time, i went specially for it during my tea time. It was definitely worth my trip down just for it.

The cake comprises of many layers which i know takes a lot of time and effort for the chef to accomplish it. The layers of chocolate ganache, seasalt caramel cream, nuts and sponge compliment each other perfectly. It was served with hot chocolate fudge and peanuts bits. The most special thing about it is the popping candy they sprinkled on top of the cake. The candy was 'jumping' non-stop when i place them in my mouth. It was a real fun experience though too much of it gets rather irritating. tongue

I truly love this dessert and recommend everyone to try it at least once! smile

Sincerity felt OK May 26, 2013

I dropped by Platypus Kitchen after seeing many positive reviews online about it. For starter, i wanted the 'Roasted Pumpkin Soup' as i simply adore pumpkin, but i was disappointed when i was told it was not available that day. Nevertheless, i took the waitress recommendation to try their 'Mushroom Soup' instead. The soup is really fragrant and substantial with real mushroom puree, definitely homemade and not from Campbell soup can. It is a pity there is no garlic bread with it, otherwise, it will be perfect!

For main course, i had the 'Pressed Pork Belly' that comes with braised apples, garden vegetables, honey and clove apple glaze. The sauce was separately served, so one can choose to taste the original flavour of the pork before adding the sauce. Flavourwise, the pork itself has only a salty, porky taste. It was definitely better with the sauce added, but i felt that the sauce was too sweet, though it might be my own tastebud as i like salty rather than sweet food for my main meals.

One thing i dislike about this dish is that the pork is presented in a whole slab with bones intact at the bottom. It was really hard to cut through the meat and the tough bones below worsen the situation. This also makes chewing the huge chunk of meat a tough job. I think it will be real good if they help us slice or cut it into smaller cubes.

Overall, i can feel their passion towards their

food and i will be back to try their other dishes.
