Cocotte had recently opened a pastry counter featuring a wide variety of baked goodies that uses good quality ingredients. As i had a heavy lunch, i decided to go for their refreshing citron tart which is a popular item in their menu. A dollop of cream and a dainty raspberry lies on tope of the lemon tart. The lemon curd taste was nicely balance, not too sour but not too sweet, reserving the lemon fragrance. However, the tart base was really 'resilient' as i had a hard time cutting it with my fork. The 'chewy' base also lack taste.

I will probably try some other pastries next time.

I had been wanting to eat from VeganBurg sagain ince my vegetarian friend bought me to try it 2 years ago at its Enuos outlet. My first burger was great and i love the feeling of eating healthy even though i was having a burger (fast food).

However, this time round i was rather disappointed. I had the Cracked Pepper Mayo which according to their menu, is one of their bestseller. The burger bun was hard and dry in the middle part. The crumbed patty was crispy on the outside, but the soy patty within lost their moistness. Luckily, the vegetable was fresh. It will be some time before i find back the confident to visit them again.

Even though there are lots of places selling egg tarts and egg tarts comes in a variety be it regarding its pastry or it's flavour, i still like Bengawan Solo ones when once in a while my craving for egg tarts strike me strongly. Bengawan's egg tart is different from the rest as its pastry casing is not those well-loved flaky type, nor is it the crumbly, crunchy cookie type. Instead, it is a 'cookie' like dough, but soft in texture and sweeter than average tart dough. Paired with the smooth egg custard filling, it is very satisfying.

My friend dragged me down to this restuarant as she was suddenly craving for their Duck Confit. She insisted i order the same as her. I was initially apprehensive as i am not a great fan of duck. However, after trying it, i was glad to listen to her as the dish was really delicious!

The duck was very crispy on the outside, yet the meat within remain juicy and tender. The meat was also very well marinated. The sweet carrot puree and brown sauce complement the saltish duck very well. I also like the cramelised onions served on top of the duck.A nice simple meal in a quiet part of marina square.

For this month of May, Jack's Place features a variety of New Zealand fare. I had never tasted New Zealand food before, so my curiosity pique me to try them.For starter, i ordered a 'Crab Canelloni', garnished with gourmet lettuce, sea salt and hazelnut. I was pleasantly surprised that the canelloni wrap actually honey dew. The combination of fresh mayo crab meat rolled in sweet juicy honey dew was really refreshing and scrumptious! I love this healthy and delicious tasting dish!For my main course, i ordered a 'Pacific Fish Roll'. It consist of dory fish wrapped with chicken mousse, served with mash potato and seasonal vegetables. It was a rather bland dish and the minimal strawberry sauce given doesn't help save the dish. I had to use lots of tomato sauce to finish off the dish.

Overall, there is hits and misses but I am glad to have a taste of New Zealand!
