It was my cousin's birthday and I brought him to Ambush for dinner. It was our 1st visit there and the ambience was to to my liking. The lights were not too bright and it was a relaxing environment. I ordered the Crispy Chicken and Seaweed Pasta (S$13.00), while he ordered the Salmon with Thai Basil Sauce Pasta, which I forgot to take a photo of. The staff who served us was friendly, and answered our questions promptly regarding the food available. Although the time it took our food to come was quite slow (we waited for about 20 minutes), but the food was totally worth the wait! Crispy Chicken and Seaweed Pasta: The pasta was cooked to the right texture; not too hard yet not too soft. It was aglio olio style, and the chicken was really very crispy. The portion was pretty big, and I didn't manage to finish it all. However, I did finish the chicken as it was just too nice to waste! The outside was crunchy, and inside was tender. Not like those popcorn chicken we usually buy in frozen packs from the supermarket. Overall, 100 marks for this really nice place. Food is good, service was thumbs up too. Will come again! I have never eaten at Cafe Cartel before, nor step foot into one outlet. Not until this time, when my fren pulled me there; to queue for their cakes. We were at Bukit Panjang Plaza shopping and it was almost 9pm. My fren asked me to accompany her to Cafe Cartel as there were 50% off cakes after 9pm. Said that the cakes there were heavenly, to which i replied i nv dined there before. LOL. When we got to level 1, there was alrdy a short queue in front of us. The cakes were very expensive, and I'm talking about a slice, not a whole cake, which may be why people are rushing to buy when they are having an offer. We saw people buying up to abt 5-8slices each, so the cakes are practically flying off the shelves. Luckily we were among the 1st few, so we got a few variety to choose from. My fren bought 1 and gave it to me, saying it was a treat since i treated her last time. The cake was placed in a plastic packaging, whereas if one gets ard 6-8 cakes, a box will be provided. It was chocolate cake, my favourite. The taste of the cake was really nice, it's like those melt in your mouth kind, simply indescribable until you try it yourself. It was soft, and kind of creamy and spongy cake in between. It looks plain, but the taste is there. The chocolate shreds at the side of the cake helps to make the cake nicer too. Overall, best cake I've ever tasted. Waiting for the next time when I'll be dropping by a Cafe Cartel Outlet. P.S. Do queue up early so that you will be able to choose from more flavours. If too late, there wont be much choices to choose from. Recommended Dish(es):

It had been a long time since my group met up with our teacher, so we decided to have dinner together. My teacher likes to try food from different places, so we went to Sady's Diner at Toa Payoh Central Community Club, where we knew she would have not visited before. We called before we went to ensure there were enough places for the 5 of us. The restaurant wasnt very crowded when we went there though. The staffs there were very attentive, poured us water immediately when they handed us the menu. Prices listed are quite reasonable too. Waiting time for the food was quite alrite, and the food all arrived piping hot. The first to arrive were the chicken wings, we ordered 2 kinds, the spicy one and the BBQ one. The spicy one was very oily, but at the same time, very nice. Haha! The BBQ one tasted quite normal to me, maybe bcos i ate the spicy one 1st and my tongue was numb. One thing for sure though, both types had crispy skin, tender meat, which is wat we want our chicken wings to b like. After that, the nachos came. The cheese was hot! Freshly melted, nice. The nachos were crispy too. There were some ingredients inside the melted cheese, think we were supposed to eat it together too, but i just ate the cheese only, hehe. The quesadillas were the best (which i feel), though my friend didnt like it. For this dish, you have to eat it hot. Not so nice when it's cold alrdy since the wrap wont have that 'bite' to it. You can choose the fillings while ordering, they have vegetarian, chicken, beef and fish kind i tink, but we ordered the chicken. There were some chopped tomatoes, chicken and melted cheese in it, something like a cheesy wrap. There are also some dips that came with it, so you can actually dip the quesadillas into each of them too. Though i like mine without any dressings. :X Next came something which i tink is fajitas (though I'm not sure). You had to wrap the chicken with the wrap yourself and dip it with the dips that accompanied the dish. It was something like the quesadillas, just that there wasnt melted cheese and the chicken was cooked in a sauce. This dish was quite ok to me, i like the quesadillas better (though this is kinda biased as i love cheese). Haha. The last dish (I dun know what it was called) came with something like a chicken cutlet and a bowl of mashed potato. The chicken was drenched with melted cheese and the skin was real crisp. The mashed potato was very soft and nice too. Would patronize this place again, the staffs are friendly and the ambience is nice too. Presentation of the foods are also nice (as seen from the photos). A great place for people to chill out after a hard day at work.

Met my fren for lunch as we were going to a place together in Yio Chu Kang. We decided to dine at The Grassroots' Club, at the Naked Fish Shoppe. However, there was a wedding solemnization going on and as we were in a rush, we decided to go to Imperial Court Shark's Fin Restaurant upstairs to save the trouble of travelling to other places to look for food. It was our first time at this restaurant, though both of us studied so near this Grassroots' Club. There were only 2 of us, so we decided to choose Yang Chow Fried Rice and share it together. Their menu was quite extensive, and prices are pretty ok for a restaurant. Both of us only had to pay around $8 for our whole lunch, and its a restaurant! Hot chrysanthemum tea was poured for both of us and they served up peanuts and chilli sambal after we had placed our order. The peanuts were really nice, i couldnt stop eating it! It was soft, and the taste was just right. It wasnt those usual boring hard peanuts normally served in restaurants. The peanuts here were cooked! The fried rice arrive quite quickly, mayb it's becos there wasnt alot of ppl. The staffs were also quite free, mostly walking ard to serve customers, or just talking among themselves. I tink restaurants mostly have crowds only during night-time, when ppl just finish work and would like to catch up with frens during dinner. The fried rice had quite alot of ingredients in it, eggs, prawns, some kind of melon, etc. The serving was also very large, though we had ordered a small one. Both of us couldnt finish it! The rice wasnt too salty, just nice, and i had about 3 bowlful of it. My friend had a little more than me, and aft tat we were really full. Only thing was that it took abit of effort when i wanted my bill. Although i raised my hands for quite a while, the staffs didnt really notice. :/ Date of Visit: Oct 15, 2011 Spending per head: Approximately $8(Lunch) Other Ratings:Taste 4 | Environment 4 | Service 4 | Clean 4 | Price 4Recommend 0 |
Everest kitchen is actually a restaurant that serves authentic Nepalese food located at Macpherson. I have nv eaten Nepalese food b4, so i wouldnt know if the food tastes authentic or not. However, i have to say, the fd is really nice! My 2 frens frm China are gg back to their country in a few weeks, n so my teacher thought of treating them to a farewell meal. My teacher likes exploring new cuisines, and so she brought us to Everest Kitchen. When we were there, there was only one couple dining, but more customers came in after we were eating. The ambience was nice, and there were paintings hung on the wall, making the restaurant look very colorful. We ordered several dishes, jogi bhuja (Plain rice cooked with carrot, spinach and yellow ginger powder), chicken briyani, garlic naan, prawn masala & their deep fried dumplings. The rice was nice, very flavourful, while the sauce that came with the naan was delicious & we had to request for more. The prawn masala was pretty spicy, but acceptable for us. The one i liked best was the dumplings though, the crispyness was just right & they were all snapped up fast. Overall, a very gd place to have nice Nepalese food. Would recommend this place to any1 who wants to try out other cuisines other than the more commonly found Japanese or Korean food. Recommended Dish(es):
