My cousin's wedding was coming soon and she went around giving out cakes to relatives and friends. When I received the cake box, I was pleasantly surprised to see many little colourful cakes inside the box, from swiss rolls to mini cupcakes.

For the cupcakes, I didnt like it alot as the top was whipped cream and there were stuffs like gummy sweet and marshmallows abv, which i can say im not a very huge fan of. The swiss roll, it was acceptable, soft and spongy, and i kind of like it. smile The 4 swiss rolls were also of different toppings, so it looked and tasted nice too.

There were also 4 mini heart-shaped cakes, which was nice, though i didnt really like the toppings, which were like colourings to me. I gave the top part to my brother, while i ate the bottom part. Haha. tongue

Overall, i just like how the cakes were so colourful and not dull, and not really the taste of the cakes. If got the chance, would try other food from this confectionery, instead of the cakes. smile

Lemon Chicken Rice  Smile Dec 09, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

Went with my sister to NUH for her monthly check-up and as it was lunch-time and it was still not her turn yet, we decided to drop by the main building Kopitiam to have a quick lunch. There were still a few empty tables around so she went to sit at a table while i went to order food for her.

She wanted to have chicken rice, and so I ordered the Lemon Chicken Rice for her. It came with a soup. Funny thing was, the plate which the chicken rice was served was made from Melamine, whereas the rest of the utensils and the bowl for the soup were disposables. Feel that they should all use reusable dishes and utensils, as not only will it save the environment, eating hot food using disposable plastics was not very good as the plastic may melt.

The rice serving was pretty big, 1 full bowl serving, with a few miserable slices of cucumber. I tried one of them, and it was crunchy, surprisingly, as most of the time i ate chicken rice, the cucumbers werent that fresh. The chicken pieces were small, and looked hard. However, imagine my surprise when i bit into one, the chicken was soft, and it tasted of lemon. Nice! smile The only thing was that the chicken wasnt hot, though that wasnt surprising since most chicken rice stalls i've been to all had 'cold' chicken. Rice was not too cold luckily.

Overall, it was a surprise to me that i could find such nice chicken rice in a hospital Kopitiam, will come again and eat it next time, smile
NICE!

NICE!

Chicken Pie Smile Dec 09, 2011

Categories : Bakery | Halal

I was at Causeway Point at night with my parents shopping at Cold Storage, and as I was feeling abit hungry, I decided to get a Chicken Pie from Polar. Their chicken pies were my favourite, though i buy them once in a blue moon as i felt the price was abit on the high side (though most pastries are about these prices). mad

The pastry was flaky, and the aroma was heavenly. There was some mixed veg stuffs in the puff other than chicken pieces. The chicken was soft and the pastry was warm. It was quite oily though as like most pastries, the paper bag was oily after I finished the puff.

Overall, satisfied as i've alwys loved chicken pie, oily or not. tongue

Chicken Ham with Cheese Bread Smile Dec 09, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery

I love going to Swee Heng as they have a wide assortment of breads for sale. It was tea-time and as I was feeling quite hungry, I decided to go down and buy some bread for myself.

I saw this Chicken Ham with Cheese Bread in a plastic packaging, selling at only $3.80. It was as big as a whole Pandan Cake, so i decided to get it since i felt it was pretty worth it. 1st thing I did when I went home was to cut a slice for myself to eat.

mad I didnt made a wrong choice. The bread was soft, and the combination of ham and cheese just felt so right. Even though the cheese was those processed sliced cheese, the taste was still really good. Though i felt there wasnt enough ham, but for that price, one couldnt complain much. smile

Ate a total of 2 slices, and another one for supper. tongue

Overall, I can only say this bread is super delicious, A MUST TRY! lol
Will get it again when i see it! smile

Spending per head: Approximately $3.80(Tea)

Wanton Mee for Dinner! OK Dec 09, 2011
Categories : Chinese | Food Court | Noodles | Brunch

Went to Mega Food Mall for dinner with my 2 siblings as there was no one at home cooking. My sis was alwys saying the wanton mee at Mega Food Mall was delicious (she was alwys eating it), so i decided to try it as i was curious as to why she could alwys eat the same thing and not be bored of her choice.

Service was fast, and I managed to find a table for the 3 of us (luckily, as it was dinner time and there were alot of ppl). smile I sat down to eat 1st as i was very hungry.

The wantons were really crispy, although they were not hot. The char siew was just like normal char siew, nothing really special. It wasnt hot too. The noodles were adequate for me, and they werent too hard, which is good as normally wanton noodles were quite hard and i alwys dislike it.

Overall, i only like the fried wantons as they were crispy, although put out for so long. It would be better if the char siew and fried wantons were hot.
