I was down with flu and cough so wasnt feeling very well, thus asked my friend to help me get lunch from Causeway Point before she comes over to my hse to see me. I haven tried the Salmon bowl from Yoshinoya before yet, and so decided to buy that for lunch.

When my friend arrived, she was carrying a huge plastic bag. I must say Im really surprised at the packaging. Not sure why, but it brightened up my day (mayb its becos the packaging was colourful). When I opened the takeaway box, I see a myriad of colours too! Carrots, long beans, cabbage, and finally the Salmon with breadcrumbs. smile Drink I ordered was ice lemon tea, which required an additional charge of 50cents on top of the usual set price.

The food was warm when I received it. smile

Salmon and Rice
The salmon was nice, coated with a layer of breadcrumbs and fried. Wasnt oily at all! A nice surprise. smile It was soft, easy to chew and swallow. Only thing is that there were too little pieces! sad Bcos of this reason, I usually eat the teriyaki chicken rice bowl, which has more chicken and thus more filling (in my opinion. smile Scrapped off the mayo on the salmon as I could not take mayo, but I dun really feel it makes any difference to how nice the salmon tasted. lol Rice portion wise is just nice for me too.

Veggies
There were carrots, cabbage and long beans, and they were really soft (just how I like my vegetables to be). They add flavour and colours to the whole meal. Only thing was that the given portion is too little for me. Maybe I shld request for more next time. smile

Overall, quite a satisfying meal for me. smile An enjoyable lunch I had!

Nice place to get Gong Cha! Smile Apr 14, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Was out shopping for groceries when I saw there was a Gong Cha in front of the supermarket. I was not familiar with Sembawang Shopping Centre as I just moved into the neighbourhood, so was pretty pleased that there was Gong Cha here. smile The great thing was - There was NO QUEUE!!! mad Left my dad to pay for the groceries and I dashed to the Gong Cha counter to order my drink (Yes, I was mad about Gong Cha, not their bubble teas, but Lemon Honey drink).

It was only $2.50 for a plain lemon honey drink, and service was quick. Got my drink in 2mins after I paid. smile It was just nice, not too sweet or sour; although there wasnt any sweetness level you could choose. (For their other drinks, you can choose the level of sweetness you prefer) Only thing was, there were lemon rinds and flesh inside the drink, which I wasnt a very big fan of. It just felt weird to eat lemon skin and flesh while drinking something.

Overall, the drink was very refreshing. My dad and mum kept snatching the drink from my hands and took sips of it. In the end, I managed to drink only about half of the whole cup. huffy Nevertheless, the drink perked me up and I didnt felt as sleepy as before I drank it! smile

Dinner @ Mac! OK Apr 14, 2012
Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

There wasnt any dinner at home as my mum was out late, so sis and I decided to grab a bite at Causeway Point Mcdonalds. Each of use ordered a set meal, Mcspicy for me, Filet-o-fish for her. They were offering twister fries if you upsized your meal, so I decided to upsize mine to get the fries (2 different fries, better than eating 1 kind) mad

The fries were left there for quite some time, so they werent those piping hot kind. There was too much salt for the normal fries though, and although the twister fries had no visible salt on top, it was pretty much as salty as the normal one. Taste wise, the normal fries was nicer than the twister fries, the twister fries had a cheesy like taste that I didnt really enjoy (even though I love cheese).

My Mcspicy was very hot though, burned my tongue when I was eating it. It was very spicy, but juicy at the same time. smile

Overall it was a full dinner for me, will try their new burgers they just came up with the next time I patronize. smile

MOF @ Nex Smile Apr 12, 2012
Categories : Japanese

This was my very 1st visit to MOF. If my friend didnt say to eat here, I doubt I would even know of this place. mad

The menu was extensive, with many choices to choose from - hot plate, sushi, pasta, rice etc. I had to look thru a couple of times before coming to a decision - ebi curry rice. This has been my favourite since I went Poly, and after I graduated, I had no chance to eat it anymore (in school).

When the food arrived, smoke can be seen rising from it; it was piping hot! I had asked for more curry on it earlier to drench my rice. smile There were 2 ebi prawns on it, and potatoes and carrots as well. Some salad was placed at the corner of the plate too, but I didnt touch any of that since I couldnt eat raw food. The prawn was crunchy, and I liked it alot. Rice was just nice, not too hard, not too soft. Texture was just right. Portion wise, it may be acceptable to some ppl, but it was too much for me. mad The potatoes and carrots were soft, easy to swallow. There was just enough curry for my last spoonful of rice too. smile

Overall, a really satisfying meal, will patronize again if there's a chance. smile
Just one thing I disliked, they actually charge for plain water! I feel it's pretty ridiculous since I know many restaurants just get their plain water straight from the tap.

1st Visit to Mayim OK Apr 12, 2012
Categories : Dim Sum | Noodles

It was my first visit to Mayim, and I certainly would go back again. As to why, you'll find out below. smile

Had met-up with my classmate and as she was craving for dim sum, she recommended going to Mayim, saying it was nice and the price was reasonable. When we reached, there was a short queue but it was our turn very quickly. We got a side table and I saw that the plate was really cute! The menu was full of delights, SO MANY CHOICES TO CHOOSE FROM! I had to think for a good 10minutes on what I wanted to order bcos I felt like ordering all the items, the photos simply made them look too appetizing. After a long while, I finally decided on a plate of dried noodles with roasted duck, and my friend ordered some dim sum for us to share. I also ordered a Milk Tea to go along with my meal. The dishes were served really fast. smile

Duck Noodles
The noodles is worth the money. Noodles were springy, and the roast duck was not too hard. The sauce to stir in the noodles was flavourful too. Only thing was the veg was too little for me. mad

Dim Sum
The xiao long bao was really juicy, the juice just burst into your mouth, full of flavours. A tad too salty though. Ingredients used were fresh. smile
The bacon and spring onion pastry was really dry, and pastry was too thick. Too much spring onion and too little bacon. I didnt really like this, so only ate about 3 mouths.
The prawn dumpling was my favourite. Although the skin used was abit thick, The prawn was juicy. Piping hot when I ate it, burnt my tongue. tongue
Lastly, there's bbq chicken bun, but I felt abit 'cheated' by the name of it, as it was char siew inside. Same thing as the other dim sum, the skin was too thick, very little fillings.

Milk Tea
The taste was not wat I expected. It had a more 'tea' taste, while I was used to the 'more milky' taste. I didnt like it during the 1st few gulps I took, but slowly it bcame nicer to drink. Haha, so in the end, I drank it all up. smile

Overall, although the dim sum wasnt that nice, the price was considered low as compared to other places which have dim sum. Their main was nice, and there's so many choices of food you can choose to eat. Thus, the next time I go, I will try their other dishes available. smile

One thing to note: They serve pickled veg once you sit at a table, and for that, it cost each person 50cents, and another 30cents per person for wet tissue. I didnt really like this as it all adds up in the bill, and these arent necessary. Thus, if you don't want them, you'll have to tell the waitress in advance. smile
