Yong Tau Fu at Mega Food Mall OK Dec 15, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Food Court | Brunch | Kids-Friendly

It was alrdy 1.30pm and as my dad wanted to go to the bookstore at Causeway Point, we decided to eat there as well. Went to Mega Food Mall on the 5th Level as that place has a vegetarian stall there for my dad to eat (He's a vegetarian).

When we went there, it wasnt very crowded. Mayb it's becos it was a Thurs afternoon. Ordered Yong Tau Fu (6pcs) and rice. Used my Banquet Card which entitles me to a additional 10% discount.

The soup was piping hot and I poured some over my rice. Scalded my tongue a few times as the food in the soup was simply just so hot! Soup colour was murky, could be used for some time to cook alrdy. The taste was just nice for me though, not too salty. The rice this time round was really hard, i could even finish half a bowl as it was just too hard, even though I had poured soup over it earlier. The items i selected were also so-so only too.

Overall, it would be some time before i would eat again at this stall. However, next time i would order it with bee hoon instead. mad

Fabulous Ebi Curry Rice! Smile Dec 14, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Food Court

It was lunch-time and i went to Koufu for lunch. I love eating at the Japanese stall as the food is nice and cheap. This stall has also been featured by Channel U before, so it shouldnt be that disappointing too if one doesnt like the food.

The auntie tending the cashier is very nice, and she knows what i want to eat without saying anything as i often patronize her stall (about twice a week). And everytime i go, i will order the same thing, Ebi Curry Rice, so she knew very well wat i wanted to have now. smile

The Ebi Curry Rice takes some time to prepare, as all the food is cooked upon each order. As prawns takes longer as they have to be coated with the crumbs and then deep-fried, people usually get their orders 1st before mine although they had placed their orders after me. I dun mind, since it was my fav food from this stall.

The prawns are crisp, and piping hot. There are only 2 given though. Potatoes are soft, and only 1 carrot is given (though i dunno why, that is usually the case). Rice portion is about a bowl, and the curry gravy? The whole plate is drenched with it! smile YUM YUM! I use the gravy to pour over my rice and eat with it, usually after i finish, there is no more curry left on my plate. Haha, it is that nice! smile

Overall, love this alot. If one more prawn can be added it would b better as 2 is abit too little with so much rice. However, see-ing the low price of $3.90, i doubt there will be another prawn added unless the prices increases. A MUST TRY though, the curry is really nice! smile

Cheesy Crumble Smile Dec 09, 2011
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Halal

Woke up late and since it was alrdy 2pm, I decided to call for delivery as I was lazy to go down to the coffeeshop to buy my lunch. I called Pastamania Delivery and someone picked up the call very fast. I like calling for Pastamania Delivery as it is fuss-free and simple. Address have to be only given for the 1st time you call for Pastamania Delivery, subsequently, they would know your address alrdy and it saves alot of time repeating everytime you order from them.

I ordered a Cheesy Crumble, while my sister ordered the Ham and Sausage Baked Rice. Estimated delivery time was about 30-45mins. Normally, the food would arrive in 30mins. smile

When the food came, it was still hot (also one of the things i like about Pastamania Delivery). smile The cheesy crumble came in a different packaging as the Ham and Sausage baked rice. It came in a cardboard container, while the baked rice was in a plastic microwavable container. There were alot of cheese sprinkled generously on top of the spaghetti. After that, i mixed and stirred it all up so that there were cheese everywhere. smile

The taste was nice, since i love cheese (of cos i will say it's nice). Haha. tongue The spaghetti wasnt too hard or too soft, cooked just right. Only thing i regretted was not ordering the chicken ham or turkey bacon chicken crumble, cos this cheesy crumble i ordered was quite plain, and i was practically only eating cheese with spaghetti noodles. LOL. mad

Overall, good service, although maybe i feel they could do away with the minimum $10 for delivery. Another thing to note, if your're thinking about ordering cheesy crumble, maybe you should order the one with the ham or bacon to make it not so plain.

Fried Rice from San Yuan Gourmet  OK Dec 09, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Noodles

Was at Park Mall and decided to drop by B1 to have my lunch. There wasnt alot of people in San Yuan Gourmet so I decided to eat there. Felt like eating fried rice and since i saw a photo of fried rice on their board, i decided to try it since it looked appetizing.

Service was fast and good, after i paid for my fried rice, i was given a number and told to wait for awhile while the food is being cooked. I went and sat at a table and abt 5mins later a staff brought my food to my table.

The presentation was nice; the fried rice fried to a nice brown colour and a sunny set-up on top. The egg wasnt that nice to eat though, it was charred at the bottom and so had a burnt taste. The yolk was good though, it came out after i poked it with my fork. It was the runny kind which i like since it can act as a 'sauce'. Haha. lol The fried rice was nice, though very oily and salty. I had to buy a can of drink to relieve the 'saltiness' of the fried rice.

Overall, feel that i wont be ordering it again, as it is too oily for my preference.

Fishcake Kuey Teow Dry OK Dec 09, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Food Court | Noodles

It was lunch-time and since I was feeling abit hungry, I decided to go to the Kopitiam at the Main Building to settle my lunch. My doctor's appt was in the afternoon and I had alot of time to spare.

One thing I like about eating at Kopitiam is that they have the card which you can store money in it, so when you use it at the many stalls there, there will be a 10% discount too.

I ordered a Fishcake Kuey Teow Dry from the Fishball Noodles stall. Why fishcake? Haha, cos I didnt really like fishballs so requested the staff to replace all the fishballs to fishcakes. In the end, I was given quite alot of fishcakes. mad

The sauce was dark brown, unlike the usual kind i normally eat for the dry version, which is covered with ketchup sauce. There was alot of sauce too, like a 'soupy' version, except it was sauce and not soup. LOL. smile

The mince meat given were sprinkled on top of the noodles, and there wasnt alot. The mince meat also had a tinge of reddish colour on it, not sure whether was it not really cooked or wat, though i ate it and it tasted okay.

Overall, the sauce went well with the kuey teow, and it was nice to eat. Quite a large serving, and generous amount of fishcakes given. Fishcakes was ok, not very nice though it wasnt very bad either.

One thing to note, there were alot of birds flying around, even though it was sheltered. The hospital should probably do something about the bird situation as birds may carry germs around.
