Lovely Place Smile Sep 03, 2011

There are many reviews about how great the place looked and the ambience is lovely. And when I was there with my besties, I found them all to be true!!

We were celebrating my hubs' BDay with a nice brunch and we had:

1) Cod Fish & Chips - high class fish and chips! The fries were nice and the kiddos ate them by the plates!! They didn't eat much of the fish so the mothers had to finish them. It's quite nice really.

2) American Slider with Blue Cheese Bacon - birthday boy loved it. I had a bite and it's very savory and yummy. Value for money.

3) Spinach Egg Skinny Pizza - their skinny pizza is liken to eating pizza topping on a big parpadum. It cracks when you cut and eating it was quite a messy affair!

4) Mushroom Risotto - the flavours were intense with the mushroom alone but they also laced the rice with this duck sauce on the side. Didn't work out for me as I thought the taste of the mushroom and duck kinda clashed. Maybe it's just me.

5) Flourless Choc Cake - at the end of the meal, we were already very stuffed and didn't wanna order too much cake. So we all only got a slice and the staff very happily surprised my hubby by singing the 'Happy Birthday' song really loudly!!! It was really sweet of them.

I would return as the combination of great audience and good food is too good to forget.

Quiet on Sundays Smile May 04, 2017

Categories : Thai | Fusion | Restaurant | Seafood

Came with my family to discover the restaurant very quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Only another family other than us.

We ordered many of their signature dishes and though there were not many people ordering, the food took a while to come. Lucky for us, we were enjoying a lazy Sunday lunch so we were in no rush. We saw later that the kitchen was only manned by 1 chef so maybe that's why.

The food is actually not bad, some were even very good.

The not-bad ones were:
1) Cashew Nut Chicken - a tad spicy and served over a basket of yam!
2) Grilled Pork Collar - not much taste on it's own but the accompanying dip was too sour for my liking
3) Okra - normal nice
4) Pad Thai Seafood - texture ok but a tad too sweet for my liking

The food dishes were:
1) Basil Stir-fried Pork - I didn't have any as my eldest girl ate them all and did a 👍🏼 when I exclaimed "no more for me?!"
2) Crispy Fish Skin - super crispy and laced with salted egg = Yumz
3) Olive Rice - nicely fried and fully flavour, another favourite of my eldest girl
4) Pandan Chicken - good marination so the meat was tasty and nicely fragranced with pandan
5) Prawn Cake - not the factory made ones, you can tell from the bits of prawn in the patty. Was the right kind of crunch
6) Red Curry with Roast Duck - this is an interesting dish with mild lychee sweetness and red curry spiciness in a good combo!
7) Soft Shell Crab Salad - didn't see much of the salad but the crispy soft shell crab made up for the dish
8) Tom Yam Potaek - not a big bowl but the ingredients were fresh and the soup not overly spicy that it'll kill your tastebuds.
9) Street Omelette with minced Pork - fluffy egg fried with minced pork and onion strips! Let's just say the kids ate through the first one so fast that we had to order another!

What a gem! Smile Aug 22, 2016

The menu here was pretty extensive and reading thru other people's reviews, we tried some of their favourites:
Onion Bhaji - my kids attacked this dish as its a starter. They loved it so much they even ate their deep fried curry leaves that was in it! Hubby said this was like extreme Muruku. Onion strips with Muruku coating! Must eat there, fresh and crispy!

Butter Chicken - buttery and creamy and just delightful. My girl was practically drinking the sauce!

Mutton Tikka - they didn't have it on their menu but this is a FAVOURITE dish of my hubby's and their chef very generously said yes. So they made that dish specially for him. It was also another hit with my children. Even I was impressed. I have tried many others and theirs was really one of the better ones.

Rogan Josh - lamb chunks cooked in spicy curry. I swear mutton is not the easiest meat to handle and they do it right! And the curry sauces are seriously distinct from each other but still oh-so-yummy!!!

Aloo Gobi - I was slightly disappointed when I saw their it was quite dry with no sauce. But the taste just knocked my socks off. Seriously one of the best Aloo Gobi I have eaten. I could finish bowls of this!

Chicken Biryani - this was served in this deceptively small bowl with lovely spiced rice and tenderly cooked chicken chunks. My girls LOVED the chicken in this dish. And after many spoons of rice was eaten, the bowl still looked kinda half full!! Hub and I was so full after we finished the rice but no regrets there.

Butter and Garlic Naans - this was another great dish. We ordered 2 first and then had to top up with another naan. Evident that my girls were just packing the naans away!!!

We are seriously fans of this very understated eatery now. The service is swift and very sincere. 👍🏼👍🏼

So worth the wait Smile Jul 09, 2016

This is an old FAVOURITE place my mind to get my prawn mee fix.

Soup - flavourful every mouthful!

Prawn - fresh but I thought last time used to be bigger?!?

Pork ribs - very tasty that even my kids endorse !

I always end up buying the big portions because the wait is SO long! But it's super worth it I promised!

Great Bowl of Goodness Smile Apr 12, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Hawker Centre

Stumbled to Shunfu Mart and decided to try Huat Heng Prawn Mee Soup.

I like soup but I like Chilli more! So I opted for Beehoon mee dry with extra Chilli! $4 portion because the longer I queue, the hungrier I get! Haha...

I must say that the $4 portion is a very generous bowl of goodness! The ingredients are really adequate for every mouthful of noodles to have some meat or some prawn with it! The prawns are split half but they must originally be rather big prawns because even half a prawn, I could taste the texture and freshness of the prawns!! 👍🏼

The Chilli paste is also very good! It coats the noodle beautifully and it has got enough kick in the spice department.

The soup base I have much praise for! It's thick and cloudy yet light enough to drink by the buckets! I shamelessly asked for a big bowl of soup and boss gave without any qualms! I like that! Some stall owners will pull long faces while doing so grudgingly.

Definitely be back for more!!!
