Not bad to chillax here OK May 21, 2014

Good reviews and being in the area brought my family here for lunch.
We ordered:
1) Breakfast Set with Sausage - scrambled eggs are nicely done and their bread is fragrant and tasty! Sausage is nice but nothing to rave about.
2) Pulled pork Sandwich - hubby liked it enough because of the bread though he found the sauce a tad too sweet
3) Mushroom Sandwich - I enjoyed mine very much! Thick slices of portobello mushrooms between fragrant bread slices.
4) Quiche Lorraine - daughter liked it though I thought it pretty ordinary. Ordinary nice, having said that.
The interior decor is very cool, both in ambience and in temperature too. It's a nice reprieve from the hot weather. Having said that, there are also many such arty-farty cafe around the area to check out.

Quick Lunch OK Mar 13, 2014

Decided to pop in here to check this place out.

Mushroom Soup - they made effort to add bits of mushroom and onions for that bite. Nice!

Garlic Bread - long focaccia slices of bread with herbs and garlic bits on top. Nicely grilled too.

Spag Chicken Bolognese - daughter had this and she likes it! I tried and it's good too! Not too tangy and there's minced chicken & carrot bits in it too.

Squid Ink Pasta - generous serving of pasta with ingredients. Served hot and taste is ok. Squid is too tough tho.

Service is prompt and polite. Water is also free and self-service! Definitely a plus point here!

Not that great leh... OK Mar 13, 2014

As a large family, we ordered almost every dish they had. I must say that I would only recommend their laksa strongly. The ok dishes are:
* chicken rice
* laksa fried rice
* prawn noodle
* Soft shell crab with Chilli Crab

The please-don't-order dish was Mee Siam! It's weird tasting! It was so weird that we just left it untouched.

The meal turned out to be not too satisfying and also not cheap! I probably won't return again, maybe for a single bowl of laksa?

Black Garlic Goodness OK Jan 20, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Stumbled into this ramen stall while shopping at OG, I was confused by the many many types of ramen in the menu. So I asked and this is what they explained to me. There are only two soup types, black garlic (non-spicy) and red oil (spicy). Then you can choose if you want 1 or 5 slices of pork. Then the choices are if you want normal green onions (Ramen), or with shredded green white onions (Negi Ramen), or with Vege and corn (Hachi Fuku Maru Ramen). They are fried cutlet version and other rice options but the main focus are ramen.

Another plus point is that their char-shui is really tender and flavourful too! In my opinion, better than Baikohken in Taka.

I love their soft eggs too. They serve theirs chilled and in a small saucer, very cute indeed.

We won't travel there specially for their ramen but if in the area, we'll be there!

Not Bad OK Dec 22, 2013

My hubby likes Aston so when we heard one opened here near our home, he's quite excited to check it out.

We ordered:
Beef Bolognese - the Spag is cooked a dente and the sauce is ok. But it's a case of sauce over noodles and tossed over. The taste of the sauce doesn't 'drape' over the noodles so its kinda like the ones you find in food courts/hawker stalls. Can skip this one the next time.

Mushroom Soup - this came first and my 2 piranhas finished it before I could get my spoon in! It's either it's damn good or boy were they hungry.

New Yoke Strip - essentially a larger piece of sirloin and I had it with coleslaw and potato salad.

Prime Ribeye Extra Cut - My hub is a fan of meat, beef in particular. Astons for him is good as its value-for-money for a generally ok cut of beef slab with two sides.

Astons is not certainly not gourmet but a good place for a hearty meal while your kids will love the play area next door more!
