Lor Mei 👍🏼 Smile Jul 24, 2015

Jia Cheng is a shop inside the Coffeeshop that sells Lor Mee and Fried Hokkien Mee.

And I'm pretty convinced that's enough tho there are many stalls in Singapore that sell Lor Mei, 80% of them are more like a by product of the other noodle types they are selling.

I like their thick sauce that flavourful and coats the noodle nicely. I'm not crazy about their ngoh hiang slices, they are "ok lah". BUT!! I LOVE this deep fried bits of I-dunno-what that STAYS crunchy even having been in the sauce during your meal!!! Amazing!!!

I usually like my lor Mee with extra vinegar and extra spice! It really adds to the kick of the meal!!!

My favorite place for my Lor Mee fix in Toa Payoh!!! 👍🏼

Food Not Bad... OK Jun 26, 2015

Read good reviews of this place and decided to check things out for myself.

Garlic Rice - both the versions with or without seafood are really tasty! It's a small portion but the price is not high too lah.

Tori Karaage - very deep fried but a tad tasteless leh. Rather disappointing...

Ramen - they only have one type of ramen. The texture of the ramen is quite QQ so not bad actually. The broth is also the thick pork-based one. My girl actually wanted a whole bowl by herself.

Of course we had Gyoza too and yes yes, the Gyozas were very nice. Crispy base and soft steamed dumplings tops and flavourful fillings!!

Not sure if I'll return again for a full meal but yes, the Gyozas are worth checking out at least as a snack.

Not Bad lah... OK Jun 25, 2015

Came here for a post-zoo lunch and ordered:

Beef Horfun with sauce - quite nice actually! Beef slices are rather tender and generous in amount. Tasty and portion very adequate.

Pasta with Sausage - as my girl says it "yours are better Mum". I agree. Not that it's bad but quite out-of-the-can taste. Not bad but not great.

Chicken & Mushroom Omelette - my other girl suddenly wanted to eat eggs?!? Anyway, the omelette was quite well done. A little light of saltiness but very ok.

We upgraded her omelette to include soup and drink. Soup was potato, carrot and chicken. Again not bad lah.

I won't be rushing to return but it's a 24 hour outlet for ok food when you need food.

Coin Prata! Smile Jun 25, 2015

This place has the best Roti Prata in the world as it has so much flavour and taste.  Me and my friend's children also endorsed it as great, so it must be quite something.

We had the onion egg Prata which was generous of onions. It's also very tasty.

My girls had the coin Prata and I tried one too. It's crispy on the outside yet kinda soft on the inside. Very good combination indeed.

The curry gravy is the best! Spicy, tasty and full-bodied. Prata drowned in the curry is just awesome!!!

Definitely coming back again for more goodness!

Old Sch Feel with Good Taste Smile Jun 06, 2015

Categories : Chinese Soup | Bak Kut Teh

The restaurant has multi-function tables with drawers that put out to become ipad (menu), panels to connect adjacent tables to become a long table. Kids were super excited to open all the drawers.

They also have a counter with bowls of condiments that you can self-help in tiny saucer bowls! Too cute!!

The soup is nice but I prefer it to be more peppery. I ordered lean meat slices and the portion is generous! One other dish is preserved Vege which was also good. However, I did find the braised peanuts a little weird tasting.

The whole meal is not cheap but to eat in Aircon comfort and with good flavours, I can't complain. Likely to return.
