Expected Better OK May 28, 2016

Came here with a UOB 1-for-1 deal for their grilled meats.

Like Brazil at 6th Avenue, they also have a salad bar to complement the meats. As we were there pretty early, the servers served up their meats very quickly and in 10 minutes, I had 7 different cuts on my plate!

Most of the cuts are quite tasty but many of them are pretty dry. The one that was not dry was their grilled chunk beef as it was really quite fatty!

The meal was good with their offer but my friends and I agree that the meats and salad bar were still better at Brazil at 6th Avenue. The servers were also more smiley and less grouchy looking at Brazil.

Unless there is a big sale for their meal sets, we won't be going back anytime so soon.

3 Stars only because it's not cheap for a full meal here.

But the chicken breast is roasted beautifully! Nice roasted skin in the outside and juicy meat on the inside. Very tasty!!

They have many salad choices but my girls opted for:
Tuna Pasta - normal nice

Tricolor Pasta - it's essentially broccoli pesto sauce that contains nuts. But I can taste the strong olive taste, which I don't like. Haha...

Broccoli - blanched just enough to retain the gorgeous green colour and seasoned just nice.

Young Potato - potato chunks with mayo so it's normal nice.

Not a place I'll crave to return to but they do have enjoyable meals here.

Good Sauce OK Apr 21, 2016

Parking around here was pretty scarce. Even the carpark at 112 Katong was full!!!

Bergs has a Aircon portion and an outdoor part. Of course we opted for the indoor seats! Aircon was not strong so it helped that we dressed 'cooling'.

I had the Berg with Cheese and I must say the overall taste was really good. I love their mayo, I think it's made fresh from scratch as I had not tasted mayo like this before. Hubby and I noticed that the beef patties are actually rather thin and dry, if not for the awesome sauce, I can imagine the burger being lacking in taste.

Not sure if I would return as there are now many burger joints who would give Bergs a run for their money. 🤔

Some hits and some misses OK Mar 04, 2016

Categories : Italian | Pasta

Some hits and some misses.

Personally, I found The Roma (Carbonara) a tad bland to the point that I had to salt it twice. The Singapore (Laksa Cream sauce) was nice, a tad dry but still flavourful. The meatball Spaghetti was the nicest of the three. The meatballs had bits of cheese in it so when you bite in, it's juicy and tasty. Yumz!

We also had pizzas. The ham & mushroom truffle pizza was really nice. You can smell AND taste the truffle. The Osaka (Chilli Teriyaki Chicken) is slightly sweet because of the sauce and spicy because of the slices Chilli. Great combi and great taste too. The Monaco (spicy prawn, cherry tomatoes and olive) was also great tasting. The pizzas were generally delicious with their crust thin but not flaky (skinny pizzas are just wrong).

I won't return specially for a meal but if needing a pizza or pasta fix, this is a good place as the cost is relatively reasonable.

Not Bad OK Nov 23, 2015

Food is very similar to what you can find in Crystal Jade.
We had wanton mee which had QQ noodles and the sauce is nice. The char siew is not bad, I prefered their wanton.
My friend ordered this deep fried brinjal slices with pork floss. It sounds a little funny but it tastes amazing! Star of the meal!
If not for the Groupon voucher, I may not have eaten at Canton Paradise in the first place. It was a pleasure dining experience.
