Honest, no frills Good Food Smile Mar 20, 2016

Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

We got the massive 1.2kg slab of meat and we were worried that it would E either undercooked (too thick) or overdone (too thick).

But they handled it well and the result is crispy seared exterior with rather tender interior. You can even see the pink! The flavour of the meat is actually enough to not need the pepper sauce on the side.

Speaking of sides, I really enjoyed the coleslaw and crunchy potato salad. Their Mac & Cheese is no bad too.

Overall an excellent place to get your beef steak fix without frills. Good too because you don't pay for the extras here.

Some hits and some misses OK Mar 04, 2016

Categories : Italian | Pasta

Some hits and some misses.

Personally, I found The Roma (Carbonara) a tad bland to the point that I had to salt it twice. The Singapore (Laksa Cream sauce) was nice, a tad dry but still flavourful. The meatball Spaghetti was the nicest of the three. The meatballs had bits of cheese in it so when you bite in, it's juicy and tasty. Yumz!

We also had pizzas. The ham & mushroom truffle pizza was really nice. You can smell AND taste the truffle. The Osaka (Chilli Teriyaki Chicken) is slightly sweet because of the sauce and spicy because of the slices Chilli. Great combi and great taste too. The Monaco (spicy prawn, cherry tomatoes and olive) was also great tasting. The pizzas were generally delicious with their crust thin but not flaky (skinny pizzas are just wrong).

I won't return specially for a meal but if needing a pizza or pasta fix, this is a good place as the cost is relatively reasonable.

Snow Ice Smile Feb 05, 2016

This place sells the same dessert goodness as their original shop at Temple Street but with better comfort, as this outlet is air-conditioned and just at Chinatown Point shopping centre.

I had the green tea snow ice this time round and I appreciated hoe the green tea is more macha than sweeten flavouring. I enjoyed the red beans that surrounds the mountain of ice. Very good combi!

I recommend it!

Beef Brisket 👍🏼 Smile Feb 05, 2016

I really enjoyed their starter salad. It's got bits of tau gwa, vermicelli and seaweed and their special sauce.

They also have very nice xiao long bao of course. Soft skins and juicy, tasty pork fillings.

In terms of lamian, I enjoyed their chill sauce tossed one. What caught me unaware was their beef brisket lamian soup, my uncle ordered that and I thought I'll just try it. Wow! The beef chunks were so soft and tasty!! The soup broth was also hearty and flavourful! Totally enjoyable!

Overall awesome meal!!!

Value-for-Money Meal Smile Dec 30, 2015
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet | Sukiyaki/Shabu Shabu

Bought a Groupon deal to enjoy the buffet.

The deal consists of a side bar of vegetables and dips and unlimited plates of pork slices and beef slabs.

I really liked the cucumber with their Japanese sesame dip. I enjoy creating my own dip with choice of Chilli padi, Jap sesame sauce, raw minced garlic, spring onions and sesame seeds.

As for the meats, the beef slabs and pork slices come unseasoned. So it's up to you if you want to season before or after. I would say that the beef slices were nice and thick so if you like your beef a little raw in the middle, you can still achieve that with watched grilling. The pork slices are thin so they char very quickly so gotta watch too.

The food items are generally quite fresh and presentation is good. The grilling pan is electricity heated so the cooking is quite clean. And the ventilation is non-Existence so you do smell like grilled meat yourself after the meal so please don't even think of going out somewhere glam after please!

It's very value-for-money with the Groupon deal and I'll bring my family the next time round.
