jellyfish Smile Mar 25, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

marinated jelly fish is one of my favourite side dishes that i always like to get in a japanese restaurant. i really like the chewy texture and i find the taste quite appetising. the jelly fish "salad" at umi sushi was not bad too, quite chewy but the taste was slightly blend but overall was still nice to eat. and it only cost $2 for one serving, so is much cheaper than restaurant prices

sushi OK Mar 25, 2012

never saw this store at jurong before so i guess it was newly opened. since was a little hungry so bought a salmon sashimi sushi before heading home. the salmon tasted not too bad, does not have the stale fish taste so i guess the sushi are still quite freshly prepared.
although the variety at the store was not too many, i still managed to find something that i would want to try so i think is still ok

beancurd Smile Mar 25, 2012

second time trying this beancurd and it still so nice and smooth. the texture is really very different from the normal stores that we can find in the market. somehow they managed to make the beancurd so smooth that it really melts in your mouth. another good thing is that normally the beancurd that i eat might have the very strong soya bean taste that sometimes it could taste bitter but lao ban beancurd does not have this problem

katsu don Smile Mar 25, 2012

Categories : Japanese

always eating the fried stuff from this place so this time decided to try the katsu don which seem slightly healtheir. i ordered the special black pig katsu don which was supposed to be the most popular don in japan. from the presentation, it looks quite normal to me and there is actually two kind of egg, the sunny side up on the top and the normal egg sauce with the meat. i felt the pork tasted very normal, not much different from the normal pork but the portion is really generous. that day i was really hungry but i could hardly finished the whole bowl! but on the whole i think this don is quite nice because is not as dry as the other set and the portion is really big, super value for money

ice cream OK Mar 21, 2012

first time trying haagen dazs ice cream at the store while waiting for the show the start at esplande. the choices of ice cream looked quite diverse and quite tasty and i decided on cookie dough which the staff said is a new flavour. i think it tasted very similar to cookie and cream but it had some additional stuff inside which make the ice cream even sweeter. the cone i think was not very nice so i think next time can ordered just the ice cream
