A happy yet disappointed attempt Cry Aug 18, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malaysian

When I first saw this store, I was full of anticipation to try the food since it was selling Malaysian foods.

And so I ordered a cup of black coffee and a set of pig trotter's meal.

When first tried, the food was a disappointment as my food was serve warm to cold kind of texture sad The coffee also taste quite diluted. After a few mouth of meats and rice, I simply left with a happy turned to bad mood.
Will not go back as not only it was expensive it is not nice too!

Mee Rebus  Cry Aug 06, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

Did not know what to have for lunch and my friends suggested to go over to Toast Box to try their Mee Rebus.
When i ordered the Mee Rebus, it comes with a drink which cost around 4 to 5 bucks. (which i felt a little overprice)
I felt that the sauce given for the Mee Rebus was too little, i hope that the staff could be more generous with the amount of sauce as the noodles get dried up once the sauce is finished up. The aftertaste of having dried Mee Rebus is not that pretty tasty. As for the green chili, it is not spicy as i expected it to be. Eventually, it did not help to add any flavour to the Mee Rebus hence i would say that this bowl of Mee Rebus is pretty disappointing.
However, i would still go back to Toast Box and try out others. All in all, i would still prefer to have their coffee and toast breads instead of ordering the set meals.

Fish Fillet Spaghetti Cry Aug 03, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Food Court

The western stall always attract many students to purchase the foods from them. It seems to be that their foods are tasty and it charges at an affordable price.
Hence, I ordered a Grilled Fish Spaghetti for lunch. I was rather disappointed with the "Grilled" Fish. This is because it wasn't grilled at all. Even if the chef did grill it, i believe the time taken to grill the fish is way too short. sad
When i first bite on the "grilled" fish, it was soggy and salty. It was salty all because of the sauce that was being poured onto the "grilled" fish.
One thing good about this western stall was that they added plenty of lettuces which makes it a little healthy for the customers. The sauce for the spaghetti was not too bad as it was not too sweet.
The portion given to a guy was just enough however to a girl, i guess is a little too much. I could hardly finish everything so i got to pass some of it to my friend before started eating. Therefore, if a guy who is hungry and has big appetite may consider ordering from the western stall. *but not this "grilled" fish. I hope the chef could make the effort to grill the fish longer so that the fish will not be soggy.

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Lunch)

Bad service Cry Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Café | Brunch

Was feeling thirsty after walking around the mall, at first i wanted to order Starbucks but I changed my mind and headed over to Wang Cafe which was opposite of Starbucks. I heard from few of my friends that Wang cafe serves great coffee in the past but did not have the chance to try out. I was thinking why not i make use of this chance to try it out myself. I went inside to the cafe and i did not know where did the queue starts.

Then, I just stood behind a lady which seems to be queuing up. When I thought it was my turn to order, I told the auntie, i would like to order a cup of ice kopi with less sugar.

She looked at me and raised her voice, "ORDER FROM THERE HORH, NOT HERE" huffy .

I was stunned as it made me feel so embarrassed. I was unhappy with the bad attitude and the impoliteness of that staff. Even though their coffee is great but if the staff continues to show such a manner, it just ruins the image of Wang Cafe and no one would like to patronise it again. No matter what, I would still go back and patronise to Wang Cafe for their coffee drinks but definitely not the outlet at Bukit Panjang.

Ice Kopi with lesser sugar- $2.30

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Tea)

Disappointed with the food  Cry Jun 30, 2013

Categories : Coffeeshop | Brunch

Went out have brunch with my parents. We wanted to head over to White Bee Hoon *opp of Chye Lye Restaurant* however it was filled with a lot of people. My parents did not like to wait for too long and so we headed over Chye Lye Restaurant Fish Head Curry. When I stepped into the restaurant, I saw a few newspaper articles pasted on the wall and near to the cashier area. At first I thought the food might be pretty tasty that is why it is being advertised in the newspapers. However, I guess it was only the Curry Fish Head that is nice but not other dishes.

I ordered Braised Assorted Vegetables, Luo Han Zai(罗汉斋)as this is one of my favourite dishes whenever I have my meals at zi char Restaurants.

First of all, the vegetables were not fresh, even though you can't tell from this picture. I believe the chef did not cook the vegetables long enough as some of it were tough to bite. I took a close up shot of the food and hence it looked rather big, but the portion was in fact very little.

Next up, my parents ordered Tofu Braised in Red Sauce, Hong Shao Tofu ( 红烧豆腐). As the name suggests, the sauce is supposedly to be red. But as you can see from the pic, the sauce is just like the normal hot plate tofu sauce, nothing special, taste is just like normal tofu dishes with few pieces of braised meat. I don't see any uniqueness in it.

After this visit, I don't think I will be going back for the second time.
