Ice cream at Andersen's OK Mar 04, 2013
Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Ordered the Couple Fondue for a friend's birthday. We were allowed to choose 5 ice cream flavours of our choice like Belgian Chocolate Chip, Cookies and Cream and Rum and Raisins etc. It came with warm chocolate (of course), slices of fruits and waffles and cookies and mashmallows.

The portion was a bit small to be shared among four people but then it's meant to be couple fondue so I guess it's okay. Overall the ice cream were good and I love the warm chocolate!

Gelato at Ci Gusta OK Mar 04, 2013
Categories : Italian | European | Ice Cream and Gelato

Ci Gusta was an Italian franchise selling gelato, the new in-thing now. The portion (small pint) was quite expensive for its price I would say, but then its considered artisanal ice cream so I guess it is supposed to be expensive?

Ordered caramel and chocolate in a small pint. The taste was creamy yet light. And the small portion was not too overwhelming either. I like the design of the shop which was blue and white. However, have to take note that as the shop is rather small, you may have to take away. I found the place a little dirty though, didn't know why the staff didn't bother cleaning up for other customers especially since the place is pretty small.

Macarons at TWG Smile Mar 04, 2013

Bought a set of six macarons (caeme with a box). Really love them! Especially liked the Napoleon Tea & Caramel, it was the staff recommendation too. The sweetness was just right and the taste was thick and nice. Had the Black Tea & Blackcurrant flavour too. It tasted berry-ish and a little sour mixed with sweet.

The staff was totally professional and polite to customers too. Overall great experience.

Too small portions for a buffet Cry Mar 04, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot | BBQ | Buffet

Went with friends on a Saturday to Bugis and we were wondering what to eat when this auntie, who was pulling guests, mentioned us in. The menu on the door stated that we can order as much as we want and the list of food available was quite long.

However, we were disappointed because even though there were many choices on the food list (you have to tick the food you want on a paper checklist then they'll bring to you), some food were not available (the service staff said the chef has not arrived so the food item was unavailable. Seriously.

The plates were really small and the portions were pathetic for a buffet. So for the second round I checked each food item twice, meaning that I indicated double for each food item. Yet the service staff still brought only ONE set. And they weren't keen to serve customers as well.

Overall, I wouldn't go to such a place again as I believe that with the same price paid I could have gotten a better meal elsewhere.

Xiaolongbao at Paradise Dynasty OK Mar 04, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Shanghainese | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Noodles

We ordered two sets of xiaolongbao at the newly opened PD at choa chu kang Lot One. Tried their signature dish of eight different kinds of xiaolongbao - Original, Garlic, Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab Roe, and Szechuan. And we also had one dish of six original xiaolongbao. It's affordable for the price given and taste was good!

Also I had their signature La Mian with braised pork belly. The broth was good and the la mian was tasty and filling. However, personally, I would have preferred if the soup was less oily. The portion was just nice, and xiaolongbao was enough for a group of four I would say. Overall, good service as the staff came over and told us to faster eat the xiaolongbao before it cools and also to eat in which order.
