It was my first visit to Varinice eating house when I discovered a vegetarian stall there. It was dinner time and a queue was forming at the stall; along with the other stalls. This eating house was located in a one story coffee shop with only outdoor seating available. There were fans around the cofeeshop to keep customers reasonably comfortable. The stall had a variety of food available such as ala carte dishes that are cooked on the spot (Chicken rice, meat fried rice, normal fried rice) etc along with the normal white rice/bee hoon and dishes (tofu, vegetables, mock meat, curry).
I have always loved hong kong fried noodles and since this stall had it, I decided to to give it a go for take away. My dish was cooked on the spot by the chef which took a decent amount of time (10 minutes). The food was still warm when I reached home. However, I was quite disappointed in the dish. There were a few mock praws, a few carrots, a few stalks of vegetables and mock meats.
Though the noodles were not over or under cooked, it lacked ingredients and that wok hei flavor. The noodles tasted way too plain. It was also lacking in taste (even with soya sauce/salt added).
Unfortunately the meal was below satisfactory. However, looking at the queue, I would give this stall another chance hoping they do better with other dishes.
