French Loaf OK Dec 25, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Bakery

I have always loved french loaves as they can be used for multiple purposes such as frying with butter and sugar or to eat alongside rich curry. I especially love the french loves from Swee Heng as the smell of fresh baked bread hits me whenever I enter the store. The bread is crispy on the inside and soft on the inside which makes it so irresistible. It's a simple delight that costs below $2 which I find very pleasing.

The store also caters to whole cakes, slices of cakes, waffles that are made on the spot with your choice of filling among other delicacies. Customers are seen patronizing the shop early in the morning to get breakfast on the go!

BK fiesta Smile Dec 25, 2012

I love burger king for their yummy burgers that's made with the freshest ingredients and crispy fries. This time I tried one of the burgers where cabiata bread was used along with fresh vegetables such as lettuce and tomatoes along with fresh cheddar cheese. The burger tasted really great and the vegetables were very fresh and crispy.

The strawberry fizz ice cream had strawberry puree at the bottom followed by sprite and swirls of vanilla ice cream. It was a good combination. However, I found the puree to be a little too sweet for my liking

I also decided to try their new beverage - Sajora which was technically tangy mango. It was really good and gave off that refreshing feel.

Lunch @ Chili's Smile Dec 25, 2012

Categories : American | Burgers and Sandwiches

Both my boyfriend and I popped over to Chili's for a mouth watering lunch fiesta. The big bite burgers are a huge hit along with the burgers, fajita's, magarita's (varieties of alcohol), Cheese sticks and Texas cheese fries!

I decided to order a vegetarian burger which came with fries, Cheese sticks and a bottomless beverage that was re-fillable upon request (decided to try to stawberry lemonade).

The sesame seed bun was soft and tasted very fresh. Included in the burger were tomatoes, lettuce and a lovely vegetable patty which was grilled to perfection. If you love cheese, you may request staff to add it in there as well. The fries which came with the burger were home-made and tasted good. The diner cuts down on salt and oil hence it's great for the health conscious.

I also especially love the cheese sticks here. The portion is pretty generous. The cheese sticks are crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth when cheese oozes out from each bite! Very much in love with this appetizer and it's a must-try! It comes along with a tangy mayo dip which gives it the perfect combination!

I also love the service here and the whole out of Singapore feel at Resorts world filled with races of every kind. Staff are very attentive with both orders and re-fill's.

Ultimate pineapple tarts! Smile Dec 25, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

If you're someone who loves pineapple tarts and are looking for the yummiest ones around, Le Cafe is the place to go! Tucked along the road side and opposite peace center lies one of the oldest bakeries. I have been going there ever since I was a kid to order birthday cakes or even slices of cake for tea. Now, of course lies a different interest - Pineapple tarts which they call Golfball pineapple tarts. You might wonder why golf ball till you see the size of those tarts!

These are the closed-up version where a very sweet-generous portion of pineapple jam is inside each soft, flaky pastry thats a size of a golf ball! Unlike most stalls, the pineapple jam does not stick to the roof of your mouth or make you drown yourself in liquids from being too sticky.

This is one of the best pineapple tarts around from all the bakery-hopping I do! They have 3 other outlets that are located in the same vicinity. This one appears to be most convenient though; seeing that its a 10 minute walk from Dhoby Ghaurt Mrt.

On top of that, you might get lucky and earn yourself a free cookie or beancurd tart that the friendly staff usually give out smile Bean curd tarts are definitely a winner here too; being yummy yet guilt free!

Note: This bakery does not have pork or lard =)

$8.50 for a box of 10, and $16 for a box of 20! (trust me and go for the 20 pieces) Once you pop, you can't stop!

Mr Bean serves the perfect breakfast. One that is not too sweet or hard on the tummy and very light yet keeps you full for a good few hours. Every time I get a pancake here, I opt for the set meal (1 pancake + soya milk) as it's a fantastic way to drown it down.

I don't enjoy the warm soya milk here as it tends to irritate my throat but cold one is amazing! (is is not too sweet or diluted). I recommend the chocolate, pandan and cheese miniature pancakes as they are one of the best!

This time round, I opted for pandan. The pancake was crispy on the outside and tasted warm. The filling of pandan was overwhelming with every bite as the filling was pushed to the top. I do also think they should not just put the filling in the middle as when you get to the bottom of the pancake with no more filling, the pancake can taste pretty terrible and tasteless. I often feel like throwing it away after that sad

To round it off, I still think Mr bean has one of the best pancakes and soya milk around compared to competitors. They could do better with a little improvement. Will be back here again for my morning breakfast lol
