Curry Puff Cry Oct 31, 2011
Categories : American | Café

Today while at Smooch Cafe, I decided to give their Curry Puff a try instead of always ordering their drinks.
Their curry puff looked appealing as it was really huge, definitely way bigger than normal ones and cost only $1.50
I asked what filling was inside and was told that it contained potato and chicken.
I was however shocked when it was time to pay as I didn't get any change back when I paid with $2.
Upon asking the staff, he said it cost $2.
This was definitely frustrating as the sign showed $1.50 instead
They definitely should update their prices instead of misleading their customers!

Anyway when I first bit into the curry puff, the crust was very crispy and buttery and definitely tasted good.
However although the curry puff is huge, there is very little filling inside!
Also, the filling tasted rather sweet.

Definitely not very tasty except the buttery crust.
Won't be trying this again!!

Student Meal Cry Oct 25, 2011
Categories : Pasta | Halal

For lunch today, my classmate and I went to Bukit Timah's Pizza Hut and ordered the Student Meal.
I was definitely disappointed by the lack of choices for their student meal.
Previously, they had more choices but they've limited it since then.

I ended up choosing Curry Zazzle Baked Rice as they no longer have other baked rice choices as part of the student meal.
The description of it on the menu is "Proudly made in Singapore, this spicy delight boasts fragrant buttered rice, topped with spicy chicken chunks and potato cubes. More importantly, the authentic curry sauce gives it the oomph locals love."

The Curry Zazzle was a huge letdown though.
There was a very strong taste of masala and I feel that they added too much of it.
It definitely didn't taste like authentic curry sauce unlike what was stated.
Also, the rice looked and tasted very normal. Definitely not like buttered rice.
On top of that, the chicken did not taste very good.
The only thing I liked were the potatoes.

Definitely will not be trying this anymore!! sad

Roast Chicken Sandwich Cry Oct 24, 2011
Categories : Café | Seafood

During my internship recently, my colleagues and I went to NUS for lunch.
We usually would go to the canteen for lunch but on one occasion, we gave the Megabites Cafe a try as it was rather empty due to the school holidays.

Not wanting a heavy meal, I got myself the Roast Chicken Sandwich.
Although the filling in the sandwich was quite generous, I didn't quite like the sandwich as it was rather bland.
It definitely could do with more sauces or perhaps marinating the chicken better.

Not something I would try again!

Sardine Curry Puff Cry Oct 24, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Halal

Having heard great reviews about the curry puffs, I decided to try out the Sardine Curry Puff.

However, I was definitely disappointed with it.
Although the puff was crusty and good, the sardine filling was strangely sweet, making it a bad combination.

Definitely will not be trying the sardine curry puff again!

Kaki Fuyong Cry Oct 19, 2011
Categories : Japanese | Food Court

This stall has always seemed to be a hot favourite with long queues and many great reviews on it.
Not having tried Jap cuisine before, I decided to give this a try after hearing from many people that the Kaki Fuyong is good.

However, I was disappointed.
Firstly, the rice was quite soggy and the soup was rather bland.
The chicken, though served in a generous portion, had too much fats and skin on it.
I thought the egg was quite good as it was thick and fluffy although the sauce drizzled on it made the taste a little weird.
I've heard that the standard of the food has dropped a little as well but there're always long queues for it despite that.

Overall, this is definitely not something I would like to try again.
Perhaps I just haven't acquired the taste for Jap cuisine!
