Hawaiian Pizza Smile Dec 19, 2011
Categories : Pasta | Halal

Having a craving for pizza, my friend and I went to Pizza Hut.
I ordered the Hawaiian Pizza as it had been a while since I had it.

The pizza was thick and chewy, with a generous amount of stringy melted cheese.
Also the ham and pineapples served of course complemented each other well.

Definitely satisfied my craving for pizza.
Yummy!

Ayam Penyet Smile Dec 19, 2011

Being a fan of Ayam Penyet, I was rather delighted when this new stall at Munch in Ngee Ann opened!
It is a common sight to see the longest queue at this stall, sometimes with 20-30 people queuing during lunch period.

The Ayam Penyet is very crispy on the outside and really succulent and juicy on the inside.
The portion of rice served is generous as well.
The staff is very friendly and always smiling, obliging when you request for more gravy.

Definitely a meal I would keep going back for.
Afterall with their great service, generous portion and affordable price, what's there to not like about it? lol

Customised Baked Rice Smile Dec 19, 2011

Categories : Singaporean Western | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal | Kids-Friendly

Eighteen Chefs used to be a popular hangout for my friends and I when we were back in Secondary School.
We just couldn't get enough of the baked rice!

To reminisce those days, my friends and I met up at Eighteen Chefs for dinner on Friday night.
As always, I stuck to ordering their baked rice.
I ordered the student meal which comprises 1 Cheese Baked Rice/Pasta, 1 Iced Lemon Tea and 1 Ice Cream.
At $6.40, that makes a very affordable yet extremely filling meal!

The student meal only has 4 options for the main ingredient in the baked rice; Chicken Sausage, Mushrooms, Baked Beans or Scrambled Eggs.
I chose Chicken Sausage and for the sauce, I chose Black Pepper out of the total 8 choices of sauces they have.
Also, I added Chicken Slices which cost an additional $3.50 but comes with 1 additional free ingredient of the same or lower cost. So for the third ingredient, I chose scrambled eggs.

From what I recall from my secondary school days, the portion of the baked rice is exactly the same!
The amount of cheese and meat served is generous and it is perfect for all those CHEESE lovers out there!!
However in terms of quality and taste, it is definitely not as delicious as back then but still of a high enough standard.
As always, it was a struggle to finish the baked rice.
Once you're about halfway through the baked rice, you tend to feel really really full but since it's really cheesy and yummy, it's rather difficult to resist finishing it!

Once I was done with the baked rice, I couldn't imagine eating anything for the next few hours.
I had completely forgotten about the ice cream that was to be served!
But as a saying goes "there's always another stomach for desserts" and I hold true to that!
I was served a scoop of chocolate ice cream, which although was rather normal, was exactly what I needed after eating so much cheese and meat!

Lastly, the Iced Lemon Tea served is rather refreshing and not loaded with sugar.
Rather it's pleasantly sweet and thirst quenching.

Definitely a nice place to chill out at with friends ;)

Dad's 58th Birthday Smile Dec 19, 2011

Categories : Thai

My family and I went to A-Roy Thai Restaurant yesterday to celebrate my dad's 58th birthday.
As always, we ordered their Mango Fish.
This is one dish we always look forward to eating and hence, never fail to order!!

We ordered the medium-sized Mango Fish which was served in 6 pieces, at $25.90
The fish is deep-fried and was very crispy and succulent.
The mango topping on it is what makes this dish so unique.
It complements the dish well and brings out it's flavour.
Also, there is a generous portion of cut mango strips lining the plate and this when eaten on it's own is incredibly delicious!

Definitely a must-try dish when visiting this restaurant!
Do note however that the dishes are rather expensive but well worth it as they serve quality Thai cuisine!
A great place for family dinners or a gathering as the restaurant has a nice ambience and decor and the staff are attentive and friendly!

Masala Chicken Smile Dec 19, 2011

Categories : Indian | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

For my parents 25th Wedding Anniversary last month, we went to Banana Leaf Apolo to celebrate.
As patrons of the restaurant for years, we knew that the one dish we have to order would be their Masala Chicken.

As always, it did not disappoint.
The masala chicken was served in huge meaty pieces, with a generous serving of masala coating it.
The chicken was tender and I just couldn't get enough of the masala which goes really well when just eaten with plain rice as well.

Definitely my favourite Indian restaurant to patronize for good Indian food.
Banana Leaf Apolo sure does serve quality food for an affordable price!
