Satisfying soups Smile Oct 16, 2011

I'm satisfied with the food and service provided here.

I've always liked the Simon and Garfunkle chicken ragout, and would consistently order it on every single visit, occasionally trying other soups like the clam chowder and beef goulash. The chicken ragout has a creamy tomato base and is chock full of chicken bits and different types of mushrooms topped with sour cream.

The beef goulash has a stronger taste, and I enjoy the tartness of the tomato soup. The beef chunks are also tender and make a satisfying meal.

I usually upgrade my soups to a value meal with iced lemon tea and caesar salad.

This place doesn't really need more introduction because the food's too good to be missed. The queue on Saturday evening had about 40 people.

My favourites are the Meatballs in gravy and lingonberry jam, poached salmon and chicken wings. It's a pity they seem to have taken the poached salmon off the menu.

There was a promotion of $9.50 for 20 meatballs, so my boyfriend and I ordered that with a pasta in tomato sauce, gravad lax, shrimp sandwich, salmon roll (very much worth the $2!) and our favourite chicken wings.

It was my first time trying the side dishes, but I loved it. The salmon roll was some sort of smoked salmon in honey mustard wrap with lettuce.

The meatballs and chicken wings were the star of the day. The wings were so crunchy and well marinated, there wasn't any need for tomato ketchup.

Ambience wise, it's noisy and full of screaming babies.

Addictive Mango Ice Smile Oct 16, 2011

When I was working around the area, I had a bowl of mango ice almost daily.

Their mango ice is different from what you get elsewhere. After the shaved ice, they layer on a generous dollop of mango puree, pour on carnation milk, place huge slices of mango on top before adding even more milk. What you get is a milky, sweet and delightful dessert. lol

Their ice is also shaved finely and melts easily in your mouth. A clear winner! Definitely worth the queue.

Slow-boiled soup Smile Oct 04, 2011

Want a change from the usual clear boiled soups? This brand has been rapidly expanding. The first time I tried their soups, I realised it was different from the rest. Their soups are slow-boiled and flavourful. My favourite is the Apple and Pear soup with pork. The meat is very tender and falls off the bone easily, and the soup is rich and sweet. They also offer more luxurious soups like Buddha Jumps over the Wall and a ten tonic ginseng chicken soup. It's worth a try!
