Our order consisted of an omurice set, a kimchi udon set and shrimp tempura. I was sorely disappointed with the shrimp tempura as I could tell the shrimps weren't fresh. The batter was very crispy though.

The omurice set was nothing to shout about, and reminded me of those served in a coffee-shop. The kimchi udon was rather bland and tasteless. It's a pity, as the shop displays made the restaurant look promising.

This laksa in Yishun is so well known, it's just known as "928 laksa". There's something different with this laksa that brings me back to this place. The soup base has shrimp mixed into it and it's spicy, yet not too overpowering. The soup base is thick, unlike other stalls with watery soup bases.

Value for money pizza sets Smile Dec 18, 2011

I ordered the $7.50 pizza set meal which I found very affordable, as it came with a personal pan pizza, 2 pcs spicy drumlets and a can of Pepsi. I waited about 20 minutes for my pizza and ate it at home because the outlet was only a take-away joint.

The pizza was rather oily, but the portion size was just right for one person. The melted cheese, together with the pineapple bits made for a delicious dinner.

Customisable set meals OK Dec 18, 2011

Ordered the $13.90 ramen set meal with the cha shu ramen together with my choice of an ala-carte side dish, chuka hotate.

The chuka hotate was palatable and seasoned nicely. When the ramen arrived, I was disappointed that the egg was fully hard boiled and not the ni-tamago with the runny yolk. However, it had 5 slices of cha shu inside, the most slices I've ever seen in a bowl. The soup base wasn't anything to shout about though.

Just take it as a cheap fast food ramen joint.

I heard good things about the restaurant, but haven't had the chance to try it until today. I chose the Penguin cold noodles that had shredded chicken and egg on green soba noodles with roasted sesame sauce.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Being really greedy, I added on a water chestnut drink and a chocolate baumkuchen bringing the total from $4.80 to $8. The serving portion was unexpectedly huge and value for money. The flavours blend well. I think the best compliment to a chef is an empty plate. smile The woman beside me also emptied her plate in 5 minutes flat. About the baumkuchen, it felt a bit too dry for my taste. The classic one is worth a try though.
