Happy Food for The Weather Smile Apr 12, 2011

What's a meal without a decent dessert ? And with the killer weather in Singapore, ice cream will always be my very first choice for dessert. Seated at an open area at City Square Mall, you can enjoy a scoop or two of ice cream while enjoy people watching.

I've tried many Cookie and Cream ice cream but at this place they actually offers Strawberry and Cream. It's something new yet nostalgic as it offers a taste of our childhood favorite yan yan biscuit.

Was there for lunch and I must say the price of $9.90 (lunch time promotion) for an awesome Fish and Chip + free soup and soft drink is a real steal but that is if you are ready to compromise on the service.

I wasn't exactly very happy with it as I always believe in a full dining experience rather than just good food. The waiting time was horrible. We waited for almost 45 mins to get our drinks served. I do understand that it's lunch time and to ensure that the food is fresh they only cook it upon ordering but drinks and soup - 45 mins wait ? That's a little too much.

2 coke was ordered but the drinks turn out to be a root beer and an ice lemon tea. - We rest our case as we understand that it's a busy afternoon. ( Or maybe we just do not want to wait another 45mins for drinks to be served.)

Fish is fresh and it taste pretty

A restaurant with stories Smile Feb 20, 2011

An easily missed little restaurant which is seated in between The Cathay and Plaza Singapura is how I would describe Charly T as a very first impression. The very common reply would be "oh, that little restaurant, I've walk passed before but have yet to try it."

Yes, that's the one. Charly T's interior design gives passer by a false impression that it's a "atas" little place which sells food at high pricing and small serving. The truth is just a glass door away and you will be surprise by the food they serve and the pricing.

The restaurant serves food from different countries and not typical " Laksa from Penang or Sushi from Japan" kinda fusion but food such as spanish omelet , ice cream sandwiches from LA and German's coleslaw.

This is a very good place to be if you are looking for a new experience with food.

Spanish Omelet on their breakfast menu. Pretty much the same food you can find in your typical English breakfast, egg, sausages, bread and potatoes. Instead of the typical way of cooking, you can see from the picture that the egg is a wide omelet and the sausages are dices and lay on top of the omelet. The sausages are actually done with salsa sauce.

They have a total of 8 "additions" or more commonly known as sides. Each sides cost $4 but comes together with their Rotisserie chicken and wraps depending on your order. My personnel favorite is actually the butter garlic rice. You can actually smell the aroma upon it being served. It might look a little less appealing due to the lack of colors but the taste is actually very rich. And the other to mention is actually the authentic German coleslaw. I've no idea how authentic it is but all that matters is how good it tasted to me. It's much more sour than our local coleslaw and it is not at all creamy. It is very appetizing but it might be a little too much for the non-adventurous foodie.

On top of the interesting food Charly T serves, they have up to 9 different types of unique sauces for you to go with your food. They have 3 different level of chili sauce and their own version of "satay" sauces.

On top of what I have mention here, they also serve a wide range of wraps, food on sticks and even dessert. Their waffles is a must try !

The best part about Charly T (besides their awesome food) was actually their opening hours. It operates till 1am on weekend on top of that they will actually customize certain food off the menu to your liking. For example, vegetarian friends can actually get them to remove certain meat item off the food and they will actually charge you according without the charges of the meat item. That's service if you ask me !

If you thought that by taking a ride with the Singapore Flyers is the best experience ever you have yet to see what Singapore Flyers can really offer.

I was at Singapore Flyers last month which was actually my 2nd visit to the flyers but the experience was totally different. I gave sky dining a go and it's an experience I will not forget.

The word is - privilege. You feel like you are the V.I.P of the flyers in fact you are. Not only did we not need to join in the main queue to get onto the capsule we actually travel up in a V.I.P lift which then leads to the V.I.P lounge where we had our dessert after the whole sky dining experience.

It's a wild imagination happening. Having good food and wine looking down at the skyline of our CBD area with world class service.

Each capsule can either be for a party for a few or even just a couple to spend a romantic night.

The experience is unbelievable but of course I believe there are room for improvement on their food. They also updates their menu every now and then to give returning diner a brand new experience. Sweet right ?
