wanton noodles Cry Jul 16, 2012

The Kopitiam is re-opened again after a long closure for renovation. The queue is horribly long especially during lunch hour. Fed up in seeing the crowd, I just line up at this stall as I know wanton noodles won't take too long to cook, and it will soon be my turn. Indeed I got my food pretty fast as compared to other stalls. However, the wanton noodles tastes horrible. Nothing to do with the sauce but it's the noodles itself. It tastes bitter, and I could barely finish it.

Went pass this stall the other day and saw their promotion banner, $1 for all buns, so I decided to give it a try.

I bought their durian polo bun and chicken polo bun. Both look good from the outside. However, the taste is a huge disappointment. The durian filling has this fake durian sweet flavour, I couldn't taste any durian pulps. On the other hand, the chicken filling is too salty. Well, perhaps for only a dollar, one shouldn't expect too much.

Dessert OK Jul 27, 2012

This is the first time I tried this dessert stall. They serve quite a variety of cold and hot dessert, and the most popular one is the jelly dessert. I did not order that but tried their durian cendol. The huge bowl of cendol consists of shaved ice, greenish cendol, lots of coconut cream, red bean etc. Finally it is topped with a generous spread of durian paste. Overall taste is ordinary and easily acceptable.

Desserts OK Jul 19, 2012

It was a hot afternoon that we decided to have some cooling dessert at the Kopitiam. We ordered the bubur cha cha ($2.70). It turned out to be this very colourful dessert, as lots of jelly (of different colours) on top of the shaved ice. I like the thick coconut taste, together with yam and sweet potato.

Chng Tng ($1.90) on teh other hand is alright too, though I actually expected more ingredients than this.

New flavours OK Jul 19, 2012

Starbucks has just launched two new flavours for their frappuccino. Hojicha with earl grey tea jelly frappuccino is very new combination to most of the people. Hojicha is a kind of Japanese roasted tea, slightly bitter but matches so well with the earl grey infused jelly. However, it's a bit sweet I reckon.

Another new flavour is the red bean and green tea frappuccino. The combination of these two ingredients are not new as lots of Japanese desserts consist of red bean and green tea. It's quite a refreshing summer drink, early accepted taste.
