Soy bean ice-cream Smile Jul 19, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Stall / Kiosk

The newly renovated Mr Bean has a very cozy interior design. The Bean mascot is cute too.

I ordered my favourite soya bean ice-cream, this time in the cup (20 cents more expensive than the cone). As per usual, the ice-cream is very smooth and creamy. Not overly sweet and suit my pellet so well. The portion is considered big for just $1.50 (you will get 10% discount if you are NUHS staffs).

Good food Smile Jul 16, 2012

We had brunch at Da Paolo and ordered Tuna loin tartare ($21) as the starter. The tuna tartare is very fresh, and well-seasoned with tiny hint of lemon taste. No fishy taste at all. The generous amount of tartare is served with two slightly toasted bread sticks, good start of the meal.

For main course, we ordered the Mushroom risotto ($26). This favourite dish of mine is very rich in mushroom flavour, creamy and cheesy, it's quite a filling dish.

We also had the Grilled seafood board ($38). The presentation might be boring and all over the place, but the seafood is so fresh. They taste so good even with such a simple cooking method.

For desserts, if you want to order Dark chocolate souffle ($22), you will need to wait for 20 min before it is being served. But it definitely worth the wait. The souffle is so fluffy in texture, and it sort of just melted in your mouth straight away.

Torta al cioccolato ($12) is quite ordinary, as in you can expect what it taste like with such rich and thick chocolate layers.

Oriental pasta OK Jul 16, 2012
Categories : Café | Seafood

The food at MEGAbites Cafe is quite alright in general. But one set back is the atmosphere where you could smell oil in the air, as their open-concept kitchen is inside the cafe, and they do lots of deep-fry in there. Not too impressive. I ordered the oriental pasta, served with chicken cutlet. The dish comes with potato soup, and it costs $5.50. Reasonable price. The cutlet is very crispy outside, slightly too hard I reckon. However, I love the pasta. Very rich tomato paste, and lots of seaweed.

Almond Bar Smile Jul 16, 2012
Categories : Bars/Lounges

I was in a hurray that morning and need to get some bite for breakfast. When I passed by thisGrand Park hotel, I decided to grab an almond bar. The almond bar smells really good. It is crunchy, sweet, and has this humble almond taste, not over-powering and easily acceptable by perople who is not fancy of almond flavour for sure. It costs $3 and is subjected to 7% GST.

Vietnamese pork noodles Smile Jul 16, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Vietnamese

This Vietnamese stall serves good beef and pork noodles. I did not feel like having beef that day, hence I asked for pork only noodles. The owner of the stall is so kind to give me so much extra pork to replace the beef. Too much I reckon. I like the soup base. It has a tiny hint of lemongrass, naturally sweet and slightly spicy caused by the chilli. It is just simply appetizing! Good meal with lots of vegetables too.
