Dissapointing Hokkien Mee. Cry Dec 31, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Food Court | Noodles

My first impression for the stall was rather good.
It look pretty traditional to me from it's open concept of cooking the fried hokkien mee.
Chef wore a strawhat which somehow gave me a nostalgic feel.
Best of all, it's being serve on dried banana leaf (which we hardly see it on hokkien mee nowadays.)

$4 portion look a little pathetic, so i went on with the $6 instead.
Somehow I was quite disappointed with the execution of the dish.

Noodles were a little undercook and the broth used was not strong enough.
In short, it was too bland.
It look flavour and smell heavenly, but the lack of taste destroyed everything.
Ended up I have to mixed more chilli in to spice up the dish to make it more edible.

A little twist to the broth and better timing manipulation work will do the trick to perfect the dish.

Spending per head: Approximately $6

Overated Nasi Lemak Cry Dec 31, 2010
Categories : Malay | Coffeeshop

I wonder what is the hype about whenever I saw the queues at this stall.
Queue will start to form up after 5pm till late night.
Among people whom I ask, they mentioned that their rice and chili are worth to queue for.
Perhaps not in my context.

They have good assortment of dishes to choose from.
But their selection are not really cheap.

A chicken wing, some anchovies and an egg will set you back about $4.00.
Portion are pathetically small.
Everything are just above average to me, including the rice and chili.

Definitely not worth queuing up for.
There are much more nasi lemak stalls out there.

Worst Steamboat in my life. Cry Dec 13, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot | BBQ | Kids-Friendly

I bet this has to be the worst steamboat I ever tried.

Fascinated by their TV advertisement endorsed by 'Aunty Lucy', my friends suggested here as they've never tried rotary steamboat concept before.

It was proven to be a wrong move.

Food: Nowhere near fresh. A small crab and some frozen scallop was given as well as come better cut beef & pork for shabu shabu. All customer was entitled to only one serving and the portion is really pathetic for 3 pax.
Cooked food was cold and hard, as thou as it just defroze from the freezer.
Drinks are the usual kind of cordial mix.

Nevermind about that.

Hygiene: Worst of all! All the food, raw and cooked are placed side by side on the rotary. Imagine a plate of bloody pig liver side by side with a slice of cake and sweet & sour pork - WITHOUT any covering. The hygiene level failed badly.

As expected - I went on a diarrhea in the middle of the night and it's proven that there is something wrong with the food over there.

It cost $85 for 3pax. Simply overpriced.
They wouldnt last long, if they continue the way it is despite their media publicity.

Not my favourite cup of milk tea. Cry Nov 30, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Stall / Kiosk

Well, I happened to be at Tampines 1 shopping, and wanted to quench my thirst, and seeing that there was a each-a-cup, i queued up to buy a bubble milk tea. The milk tea was slightly more expensive than Sweet Talk's but I was okay with it, since it was a few cents.

However, my few cents were not justified. The bubbles in the milk tea were bland in taste and they tasted 'rubbery'. Furthermore, the milk tea had more milk than tea. The person blending it was also doing it very slowly... hence, there was a queue.

I've drank Each-a-cup before else where, but I must say that this is by the far the worst experience I have had.

Global Kitchen Cry Nov 29, 2010
Categories : Fusion | Hotel | Steaks and Grills

A night stay at pan pacific cames with a compliment breakfast for 2.

I would expect a pretty good selection of food considered it's Pan Pacific.

Was dissapointed pretty much from the selection of food. Pretty much mix of local and western breakfast selection. Nothing impressive.

Summarized my whole experience

1. Crowded. Too many people, staff short-handed, plates not promptly cleared.
2. Limited selection of food to justify the normal price.
3. Local delight such as fried mee, beehoon were badly done. Dried and rather plain.

The overall stay at pan pac was rather decent, but the breakfast are disappointing.
