Good Peranakan Buffet Smile Nov 29, 2010

What!?!

$13.90 for a Peranakan buffet?
Sound like a great deal isnt it?

Even thou they didnt serve a very wide range of food, it's quality are rather impressive.
Some are peranakan based while some are chinese food fare.

Mixed Vegs
Asam fish fillet
Curry chicken
Babi ponteh
Kueh Pie-Ti
Laksa
and more!

Cake and pastry spread are more appealing to me thou. chopstick

However, this place is always crowded. I really mean crowded. Advisable to go early to avoid disappointment

Not just only Xiao Long Bao Smile Nov 29, 2010

Went to try this restaurant since we wanted to have some proper chinese dinner and there was nothing nearby which serve similar food.
Was quite facinated by it's menu design. I took a quick glance of the menu before we decided to head in.

Service was very prompt and the interior decor gives us a rather classic and cosy feeling.

Food wise, we ordered

Drunken chicken
Salty egg prawns
Dou Miao
and with steamed rice.

The drunken chicken was quite nice. It's a cold dish anyway. Tender chicken tinted with gourmet wine.
Salted egg prawns was pretty much live up to its name. Generous coating of salty egg yolk over the crunchy fresh prawns.
Dou miao was pretty average thou. At least they didnt over cook it.

Overall it's a very nice place to hunt for some chinese food.
Perhaps we'll try their xiao long bao next time.

I didnt have a very good impression for Canadian pizza from my past few experience with them.
Crust was always too thick, filling was inferior.

But my girlfriend insisted on having canadian pizza on this particular evening. (I have no idea why).
So I dialed that 6-241-0-241 reluctantly.

Ordered a Tandoori Chicken and Singapura Pizza on Thin crust. Was advised that the waiting duration will be around an hour.

Instead, the delivery came much earlier than expected.
Thirty mins in exact!

Open up the boxes and the pizza were really pipping hot!

The Tandoori Chicken (Normal)

Crust was not too thick this time round. Totally changed my impression for Canadian Pizza. The Tandoori Chicken was spread generously over the pizza. Surprisingly, the Tandoori was much more juicy than I expected. Good stuff.

The Singaura Pizza on thin crust

The crust was not as thin as those Italian Pizza but it crunchy enough the hear the cracking as you bite. The sweet spicy taste was well blended in my palate and I think this is one of the better home delivery pizza I had.

Overall, their thin crust pizza are worth a try.
If only they are consistent with their pizza quality(from my past experience), I believe I will order from them more often.

Yummylicious Nasi Lemak!  Smile Nov 29, 2010

Categories : Malay

My company ordered from Power Nasi Lemak for our staff's packed lunch. It was heavenly! The container came in a nice hard paper microwaveable box, and within the box, it was the nasi lemak.

The Nasi Lemak came with the rice, egg, ikan bilis, chicken wing and the sambal chili.

The chili was really good. It was not too spicy, yet with a tinge of sweetness in it. As for the rice, it was soft and fragrant... no complaints! I must compliment the chicken wing, as I find the skin really crunchy, and the meat really tender. The chicken wing was definitely the highlight of the whole packed lunch.

It was also quite cheap, considering so many side dishes in our nasi lemak. You must definitely try! It is definitely comparable to the one in Changi that many had raved.

Venison Hor fun Smile Nov 29, 2010

Wondering what exactly venison is?

Its actually deer meat.
Not really the usual kind of meat to eat with hor fun, but having tried once - I'll gladly return for more!

The meat was rather plump, tender and juicy!
Texture tasted similar to beef but I guess venison are slightly more 'moist'
Gravy was one of a kind, some sort of thick dark gravy with extraordinary fragrance.
The hor fun was silky smooth on it's texture and it simply slides down your throat with the savory gravy!

Must try here!
