Manhatten fish market Smile Jan 27, 2014

Settled for lunch one day with my girlfriends at star vista's manhatten and we were glad that they had lunch deals during the weekdays.

As usual, I always prefer to go for the pasta instead of other main courses (even if they specialize in fish) and I chose the seafood aglio olio. What I fancy about the one over at this outlet is because they could make it non-spicy for me as well as they added extra prawns for me when I requested not to have mussels! The taste of this was better than I expected, not too oily and garlic stirred with it was just nice in size.

You should try them too, more worth it during weekday lunch time lol

Chicken Rice

Chicken Rice

Good afternoon, folks. This plate of chicken rice from Maxwell Food Centre is pretty well known around the region after the SingTel Hawkers vs Ramsay competition. Of course, food lovers like me would definitely head down to try. Beware, the queue was long and the shop attracted tourists too. I waited for about 15-20 minutes for my turn to purchase one plate of chicken rice. The rice was aromatic and the chicken was succulent, very deliciously prepared by the chef. If you have not try this, you should when you are around Maxwell Food Centre!

Strawberry shortcake Smile Jan 26, 2014

Trust me when I say that a cake tastes really fabulous because I have extremely high expectation for them!

I have never been much of a fan towards sponge or chiffon cake, not to even say strawberry shortcake until my sister recommended this to me. This sweet little thing totally brightened up my day upon the first mouth. The cream with a hinge of cream cheese melted in my mouth and the chiffon cake is so soft and fluffy! I can have a lot more of this right now.

Before I forgot about this, it's cheap! (As compared to a lot more other strawberry shortcakes out there)

Best carrot cake! Smile Jan 26, 2014

This is probably and the only carrot cake which I fancy a lot since young when my mom used to always buy that back whenever she's at bugis!

Thus I decided to settle dinner over at albert food centre for the famous carrot cake! $2.50 for the most fabulously awesome delicious carrot cake ever! Such a huge portion, especially for that amount. What makes their carrot cake good is the uncle with his skill and years of experience manning the flames. The carrot cake is soft and there are some crispy bits! I also love the generous amount of egg served with it!

This is definitely what I call, a true local dish!

Time Travel To Malaysia IPoh Smile Jan 26, 2014

Ipoh Laksa

Ipoh Laksa

Okay listen up if you have been following me with me review, you will know that I do not like to eat spicy food. However, when I was young my parents often travelled back to Ipoh some sort like a business trip and I would tag along with them. I remembered trying my parent's bowl of laksa, ended up burning my own tongue. Aside from burning my own tongue, the aromatic smell from the laksa was indescribable. Until now, the smell continue to linger in my mind whenever I see laska, be it Singapore's style or Malaysia's style. One day, my friend and I decided to head to Malaysia Boleh. I ordered chicken rice and my friend ordered this. It was exactly the same as I saw it many years ago in Malaysia, the smell and the ingredients were almost the same, about 90%. The broth colour with the noodles, totally identical. I tried a spoonful of the broth and I felt like I was back in Ipoh, beside the road tasting the noodles. It was too good to be true, believe me. If you think I am writing for a composition then you have to try it to believe it. The point is, I actually found a bowl of laska that tasted exactly like the bowl I had it in many years ago. Damn, I am going to bring my parents here to try it.
