I was craving seafood really badly, so the boyfriend and I headed down to Manhattan Fish Market at StarVista. I've always been a fan of the small flame. I love how tasty the fish is and how it melts in my mouth while the prawns are usually fairly fresh and the sauce on it makes it super yummy! My boyfriend ordered the fiery cherry snapper with mussels. We also ordered an extra portion of garlic herb mussels and bread.

As for drinks, I had the sweet alabama. A must order if you're a fan of peanut butter. It's really creamy so if you can't finish it, you should share it with your dining partner.

The small flame! An absolutely favourite of mine. If it's your first time there, this dish is sure to satisfy your tastebuds and leave it singing! It consists of a piece of fillet fish, 3-4 grilled prawns vegetables (broccoli and carrots), thick cut french fries and a small portion of rice. The entire dish is covered in a cheese type of sauce that makes everything moist and keeps it from being dry after it has been flamed.

Dislikes
How uncomfortably hot it was. As StarVista is an open space concept mall, the entire mall isn't in an air conditioned environment. The shops are usually air conditioned though. Unfortunately, manhattan fish market has really bad ventilation. People sitting in one section of the restaurant, practically didn't have any air-conditioning at all. Both my boyfriend and myself were sweaty and hot throughout dinner, something which made the entire meal unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Also, their staff were poorly trained. While waiting in the queue, I notice 4 to 6 empty tables. Yet no one helped the 10 people queuing to the seats. They could definitely had been more efficient. Instead, customers were left standing outside for a good 10-15 minutes.

I definitely will not be going back to this outlet again as its service left much to be desired.

Spending: Approximately $62 for 2 people

As I was feeling hungry and having cravings for stingray, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Newton Food Centre for supper. Some of our favorites from this stall includes the stingray and fried rice.

The stingray we ordered was perfect! Usually I can't take very spicy food but in this dish the sambal chilli was not overly spicy and was bearable. The stingray was fresh and the meat had just the right texture and was not overly chewy.

Spending: $15 for a medium size portion of stingray. More than enough for 2 people.

After School Meal Smile Oct 08, 2012

Headed down with the boyfriend after school to have lunch at Raffles City! Handburger is located in the basement of Raffles City and when we got there, we got seats really quick.

I ordered the mini hand burger because the normal size one is just too big for me to finish. I find this a really good addition to the menu, since small eaters (like me) can order the smaller size burger and not worry about finishing it.

My boyfriend ordered the portobello hand burger which was really juicy and tasty. This was really surprising since it's a vegetarian burger and I've never tasted one this good! My favourite has to be the calamari rings because it was huge and the batter around it wasn't hard and thick, so it was really easy to eat quite a few without getting sick.

Nice ramen @RamenPlay Smile Oct 06, 2012

I had lunch here with my sister because we had been shopping at Orchard before that. There wasn't a queue and we got our seats really fast. Service was prompt and fairly efficient. I ordered this bowl of ramen and absolutely loved the broth. It was tasty and wasn't too salty. The egg was my favourite though. It had a slightly runny yoke and was not over boiled. I would definitely go back in the future for another meal.

The ramen noodles! I could feel the springy texture while eating it.
The egg! Still slightly runny in the yoke.

Dislikes
I felt the tables were too close to other diners. I could clearly hear what other diners beside me were saying and that made me a little uncomfortable.

Spending: Approximately $36 for 2 people.

Delicious Jap Lunch! Smile Oct 06, 2012

I was shopping with a friend at Bugis Street when we got hungry and retreated to the cold comfort of Bugis Junction. We decided to try Shokudo since we were both craving Japanese food. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry Omu Rice while she had the Mushroom Pasta.

The tonkatsu was crunchy and tasty but seemed a little over-fried. I love the omu rice, the egg over the rice was really tasty. The mushroom pasta was very average and did not come with many mushrooms. Personally, I felt it was a little pricey for a vegetarian pasta.
