Great french food! Smile Sep 30, 2012

After coming back from Paris, I've been craving their duck. I finally headed down with some friends to Saveur after hearing favorable reviews about it from others. Man, I was not disappointed. The confit of duck was exactly like the one I had in France. My tastebuds were singing after the first bite. The mash potato (?) under the duck was also another winner, it was so yummy my friends and I practically scrape every inch of it of the plate. At a price of $9.90, it was also extremely affordable.

Each of us also ordered a bowl of angel air pasta with sherry minced pork and sakura ebi ($3.90). This was another delicious dish. I've never tasted something like this, it was extremely good. The sakura ebi added a crunchy mouthfeel.

Will definitely be going back!

After School Meal Smile Oct 08, 2012

Categories : American | Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches

Headed down with the boyfriend after school to have lunch at Raffles City! Handburger is located in the basement of Raffles City and when we got there, we got seats really quick.

I ordered the mini hand burger because the normal size one is just too big for me to finish. I find this a really good addition to the menu, since small eaters (like me) can order the smaller size burger and not worry about finishing it.

My boyfriend ordered the portobello hand burger which was really juicy and tasty. This was really surprising since it's a vegetarian burger and I've never tasted one this good! My favourite has to be the calamari rings because it was huge and the batter around it wasn't hard and thick, so it was really easy to eat quite a few without getting sick.

Dinner at Longbeach @ Dempsey Smile Oct 01, 2012

Headed down to the Longbeach at Dempsey with my family as it was my parents' wedding anniversary. My family has a few favourites at Longbeach:
-The crispy fried chicken
- Wasabi mayo prawns
- Steamed fish

The wasabi prawns remain a hot favourite of mine and I was practically in heaven when I bit into the fried yet succulent prawn that was coated in wasabi mayo. It was served with strips of honeydew which made the prawn taste even sweeter when you eat it together.

The crispy chicken and steamed fish are regular items that we usually order when at Longbeach. They won't disappoint! On top of those 3 dishes we also ordered iron plate tofu and xiao bai cai in a thick mushroom broth.

It's a little pricey for food that could be eaten elsewhere but we had good service and a lovely ambience so it was well worth the money.

Great Ramen! Smile Oct 02, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Headed down to Santouka with a close friend of mine to try the ramen. I've heard raving reviews about this place and had high expectations. Fortunately, they were met. The ramen noodles were springy and the broth was full of flavour. I particularly enjoyed the cha siu because it was soft and had just the right amount of fat.

The chawanmushi was also one of the yummiest I've ever had, would definitely recommend the chawanmushi for anyone who ever eats at Santouka.

- Being able to order the ramen in small, medium or large bowls (good for a small eater who can't finish standard meal sizes)

One of the Best Dimsum Places! Smile Oct 01, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

Swee Choon remains a favourite for me when I have a craving for dim sum. Headed there for dinner with my boyfriend's family and we ordered quite a spread.

The egg tarts are a must try. It's crisp and crunchy when you bite into it. Other items I would recommend ordering are:
- Siew mai
- Liu Sha Bao
- Seafood hor fun
- Har gao

Swee choon pretty much as the normal spread any dim sum serving Cantonese restaurant would have. But the 2 things that makes it stands out from the rest is it's cheap affordable prices and that it is still open after midnight.
