ala cart buffet lunch Smile Nov 20, 2014

We tried the ala cart buffet lunch. $26.80/pax for weekday, and children below 6 yrs old are FOC. Quite a lot of variety - includes dim sum, meat, fish, beancurd, vege, noodles, dessrts. Value-for-money atthe price.
One of my favourite dish is the curry prawns. The taste is very good, and go very well with the fried mantou.

For desserts,  I recommend Crispy Pancake with Lotus Paste Filling and Ice-cream Puff. The fillingin the pancake is generous, not too sweet and nice. Must be eaten fast when it is crispy. The icecream puff is vanilla flavour and is a hit with children. The beancurd is also good as it is very smooth and silky, and best of all not too sweet.

I've also tried their yam paste in coconut in another occasion, and it taste very good. The portion is very small though.

Staff service is prompt, change plates for every dish, and is a good place for family and friends gathering.

Will comeback again.

Ala cart buffet lunch OK Nov 20, 2014

Happen to see the menu of BanHeng while shopping in Orchard Central, so we thought we'll give it a try. The price for ala cart buffet lunch is quite cheap $22.80/pax, and the food selection is quite wide.

We tried all the chef’s recommendations which can only be ordered once -- Braised Shark's Fin with Crabmeat, Braised whole Abalone in Brown Sauce, Drunken Prawn with Chinese Herbs, Chilli Crab or Black Pepper Crab, Stir fried Scallop with Asparagus, Frog Leg with Spicy Sauce, Steamed clam with ginger and garlic, and Deep fried Soon Hock fish.

I love the abalone best, very succulent and chewy. I think the drunken prawn is a bit bland, could do with more herbs. Chilli crab is so so only, the sauce is not as flavourful and spicy as expected. Deep freid soon hock fish is yummy as it is very crispy.

The other dishes (dim sum, meat, vege, dessert) are so so only - can't expect too much at this price. For better quality food, suggest to consider elsewhere. Staff service is quite good though and are prompt in changing our plates after every dish. Ambience is also good for family gatherings.
abalone - good!

yummy pizza slice Smile Nov 20, 2014

Happened to get a voucher for this shop, so we tried the pizzas. Ordered Hawaiian pizza and roast duck pizza. We loved them both. For the hawaiian pizza, the toppings - ham and pineapples are quite generous and juicy. Some different from the usual pizza shops. I think it is value for money at a price of $5.20 per slice. For the roast duck pizza, the duck meat is soft and the portion is huge. It is also very crispy. This outlet is quite cosy, tucked in a corner at the basement of Orchard Central, good place for gatherings and to chit-chat. Staff are friendly and service is prompt.

dimsum Smile Nov 20, 2014

This is our favourite place. Always come here for dim sum on weekends. Like the Shrimp dumpling, siew mai, xiao long bao, custard bun and the char siew bao best.  The xiao long bao's skin is very thin and the juicy minced pork meat is very sweet and chewy. The staff are friendly and service is quite prompt. They serve us generous amount of preserved ginger slices to go along with the xiao long bao too. I also like the char siew bao filling, as it is sweet and not much of "white meat". Price is reasonable, and ambience is condusive for family gathering.

Children meal OK Nov 20, 2014
Categories : Japanese

First time here. Ordered via the iPad, very high-tech. Ordered the children meal, together with Ramen and gyoza. There are 2 choices of childrens meal. We ordered the set which is nicely set in an aeroplane, with rice, gyoza, and fried chicken. While the serving is attractive to a child, the taste is only so so. I think the chicken is a bit too salty/marinated for a child. A bit disappointed with the gyoza, as I had great expectations of it before i come. But it tasted a little bit burnt. The ramen which I ordered is the prawn ramen. I like it because it is not as salty as those I've tried elsewhere. Noodle serving is ok but prawn/other toppings could be more.
Service by staff is very good as she attends to our queries and requests promptly. Ambience here is also good - not too noisy during the peak hours.
