Chicken Rice Smile Apr 07, 2013
Categories : Hainanese | Chicken Rice

This have been the best chicken rice so far in my opinion in Singapore. I will usually order white chicken cause it is more tender and the chicken will be soaked with some sauce beneath it.. The chicken rice is really fragrant and delicious. The chewines of the chicken is just nice and as the chicken is so tender. Usually will eat it with chilli and ginger provided. The chilli is really good though and there is a choice of black sauce if prefered. There will be usually a long queue during lunch time but queue may be quite fast.

I was happy to be able to try the Abalone Laksa at Re!Fill restaurant. I really enjoyed the Laksa there. It was really good and unique as I have never heard of Abalone Laksa non tried it before. The Laksa was really delicious. The spiciness was just nice. The chilli was a little sour and spicy but it was so good and goes well with the Laksa. The Abalone chewiness was just nice. I finished the entire bowl and will definitely go back again to try their other dishes.

Al Borgo Italian Smile Apr 28, 2012

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta | Pizza

Food served was simply delicious and authentic. The first appetizing dish was Portobello Mushroom with Pesto & Prawn Sauce. Was my fave as I am very much in love with anything pesto. Second appetizing dish served was Crostonebread with Cheese. The cheese was just nice and goes very well with the ovenly-toasted bread. Third dish was Spinach Ravioli filled with Lamb in Capsicum Sauce. I love Ravioli but this Ravioli was lamb and the taste was quite strong. Fourth was Bigoli Pasta with sliced Tenderloin Beef and Porcini Mushroom in light creamy sauce. Love this dish as well. Last dish that I tried was the Hand-made Pork Sausage with Charcoal grilled potatoes. I loved the potatoes. To top it off, Lemon cake was served at the end of it; It was really refreshing. I really love the cosy atmosphere of this restaurant. It feels like you are in a small Italian home. Will definitely visit it again when I am craving for Italian.

I am sure almost everyone will agree with me. Ikea serves affordable and tasty Swedish food. Best of all, the portion is really filling. At times, I may visit Ikea just for the food, don’t really have the intention to want to buy furniture but nevertheless, I may still walk around if time permits. Usually, I will go to the one nearly to my place, the one at Alexandra. There are certain timings when the queue will be extremely long and the restaurant will be really crowded. However, the good thing is that the flow of the queue is quite fast. I always order my all-time-favourite meatballs. They come in pieces of 20 ($9.50), 15 ($8.00), 10 ($5.50) so order the one your appetite can take. Other than their usual sauce, they come with cranberry sauce and mash potatoes. I will always order the chicken wings ($7.50 for 6) as well. It is really hard to resist when you see them at the counter. You have to try the Lingonberry Drink ($1). Lingonberry are a popular berries in Sweden. It is healthy cause they are many benefits to it. It is only 1 bucks and it is refillable, definitely worth it. I spotted a new item on their dessert, the apple cake. This was so good when it was warmed.

Bon appétit at Saveur Smile Jan 25, 2013

Categories : French | Restaurant | Seafood | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

It was a pity that I didn't get the chance to try this the last time I went as the queue can be really long. This time around, I went during lunch time and I was happy that I did not have to queue.
Furthermore, I realised they have extended the place and so which means there are more seats. The restaurant is located under one of the shop houses along Purvis street in between Bugis and City Hall. The décor of this place is very simple yet has a classy and modern feel.
I ordered a Duck Confit ($10.90) which is also one of their signature dishes. This comes with some soft mashed potato at the bottom of the duck and shitake mushrooms. There is a tinge of some orange infused flavour as well. This dish is recommended.
I also tried all of their desserts. They have really quirky desserts I would say. The desserts are innovative and according to the boss of the Saveur, each dessert has a story of its own how it came about and he shared that he wants the dessert the patrons can associate with. For instance, the cookies and milk, the sparkles that is found in the dessert is something that we eat during our childhood time. I enjoyed this dessert which was not anything that I had tried before.
Other than that I also tried their Chocolate & Hazalnut ($7.90). This was chocolate mousse with hazelnuts and raspberries. I thought the hazelnuts and raspberries do go very well with the mousse.
Another dessert will be the Textures of Citrus ($6.90). Oooh! This dessert is amazing. There are like different citrus of fruits altogether in one plate consisting of orange, pineapple, lime.
Last but not least, I also tried the Pistachio Panna Cotta ($6.90) filled with pistachio and cream. This dessert is very nutty but addictive. With every bite, you can taste the fragrance of the nuts. If you haven’t tried this yet, you are really missing out.
Overall, I love the ambience and the place, servers are really prompt as well, love the food, especially the price and everything else and so would definitely return.
